    • Nick Castellanos homers, Phillies sweep Brewers
Nick Castellanos swatted a two-run homer on Wednesday, lifting the Phillies to a 2-0 victory over the Brewers.

Advice: Castellanos connected for a 402-foot blast off Brewers southpaw Aaron Ashby in the fifth inning for his eighth big fly of the season. It wound up being the lone tally for either side in a rare low-scoring showdown at Citizens Bank Park and was more than enough run support for Aaron Nola and the Phillies’ bullpen in this one. The 32-year-old corner outfielder has homered twice in this last seven contests since May 29. Rotoworld Wednesday, 4:53 pm
    • William Contreras posts two hits, doubles in loss
William Contreras went 2-for-3 with a double on Wednesday in the Brewers’ shutout loss at the hands of the Phillies.

Advice: There weren’t a ton of bright spots here for Milwaukee as Contreras supplied two of their three total hits, and lone extra-base hit of the contest, as Phillies starter Aaron Nola and a pair of relievers combined on a three-hit shutout. Rotoworld Wednesday, 4:52 pm
    • Provides only offense in win
Castellanos went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 2-0 win over the Brewers.

Advice: The veteran outfielder provided the game's only offense by taking Aaron Ashby deep in the fifth inning. Castellanos is beginning to climb out of his early season hole, batting .270 (17-for-63) over his last 16 games with four of his eight homers on the season, along with 11 runs and 11 RBI. • Nolan Arenado goes deep, Cardinals edge Astros
Nolan Arenado slugged a solo homer on Wednesday, lifting the Cardinals to a 4-2 victory over the Astros.

Advice: Arenado supplied a key insurance run for the Cardinals’ bullpen with a sixth-inning solo shot off Astros starter Ronel Blanco. It was his sixth round-tripper of the season and third time he’s gone deep in his last seven contests since May 28. The 33-year-old remains stuck in one of the most challenging extended power outages of his career, but he’s shown a bit of a spark lately, and might finally be turning things around. We’ll see. • Aims for return around July 1
Casas (ribs) said Wednesday in an interview with NESN that he should be cleared to swing a bat before the end of the week.

Advice: Casas noted earlier this week that he's still experiencing some discomfort in his ribs when he rotates, but the 24-year-old expects to progress enough in the coming days to try swinging a bat. The first baseman still has several hurdles to clear in the recovery process before being ready for game action, but he said in his interview that he's hoping to be activated from the 60-day injured list "right around July 1." • Triston Casas hoping to return around July 1
Triston Casas thinks he could return from his oblique strain right around July 1.

Advice: Casas has yet to resume swinging, but that could happen within the next few days. Obviously, that’ll be the real test before any sort of official timetable comes down. Rotoworld Wednesday, 12:10 pm

    • Scratched due to knee issue
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Marte was scratched from the lineup prior to Wednesday's game in Washington due to a right knee issue, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

Advice: Though he played all nine innings of Tuesday's 6-3 win while going 1-for-3 with a triple, a walk, two runs and two RBI, Marte informed the Mets on Wednesday that his knee was bothering him at points during the previous night's game. The Mets elected to scratch Marte from the lineup for the series finale as a matter of precaution, but Mendoza said that he has a low level of concern for the outfielder's injury. Marte will still be available off the bench Wednesday, and with off days Thursday and Friday, the expectation is that he'll be back in the lineup Saturday for the start of the Mets' two-game series in London versus the Phillies.
