      Littell didn't factor into the decision Thursday, allowing four runs on seven hits and a walk over five innings against the Red Sox. He struck out three.

      Advice: Littell surrendered his first home run since April 22, yielding a solo home run to Rafael Devers in the second inning. Thursday's outing marked Littell's second time in nine starts allowing four or more runs. On the year, Littell owns a 3.44 ERA, a 1.31 WHIP and a 48:4 K:BB across 49.2 innings.     • Littel gets no-decision Thursday
      Zack Littel allowed four earned runs, struck out three and picked up the no-decision in the Rays’ 7-5 victory over the Red Sox on Thursday.



      Advice: Littel was a member of the Red Sox for about a week last season before the Rays claimed him off waivers and turned him into a starting pitcher. He completed five innings and left the game with a 5-4 lead, but the bullpen couldn’t hold that lead. He has a 3.44 ERA on the season. Littel is set to face the Red Sox again at home in his next start.

    • Fans nine in no-decision
      Pfaadt came away with a no-decision in Wednesday's 2-1 win over the Reds, allowing one run on two hits and two walks over seven innings. He struck out nine.

      Advice: The right-hander generated 30 called or swinging strikes on 93 pitches in one of his best performances of the season, and his only real mistake resulted in a Santiago Espinal solo shot in the fifth inning. Pfaadt extended his quality start streak to four with the effort, a stretch in which he's posted a 3.24 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 24:4 K:BB through 25 innings.     • Fans seven but takes loss
      Houck (3-5) took the loss against Tampa Bay on Wednesday, allowing three runs (one earned) on five hits and three walks while striking out seven batters over 5.2 innings.

      Advice: Houck made it through three scoreless frames before giving up an unearned run in the fourth. The right-hander had a 2-1 lead when he exited with two outs and two runners on base in the sixth, but Greg Weissert gave up consecutive hits in relief to saddle Houck with two more runs (only one of which was earned) along with the loss. Despite the defeat, Houck gave Boston a solid chunk of innings again -- he's completed at least 5.2 frames in each of his nine outings this season.       Morton (3-1) took the loss Wednesday versus the Cubs, allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits and three walks while striking out four over three innings.

      Advice: Morton worked a high pitch count, needing 76 pitches (48 strikes) to get through three frames in his shortest outing of the season. He had pitched into the sixth inning in each of his other seven starts. The 40-year-old's poor start caused his ERA to balloon to 3.52 from 3.14, and he's sporting a 1.15 WHIP and 44:17 K:BB over 46 innings.     • Giants believe Keaton Winn’s injury is mild
      Giants’ manager Bob Melvin told reporters on Wednesday that Keaton Winn’s forearm tightness is “pretty mild”.

      Advice: At least that’s the initial diagnosis after Winn left Tuesday’s start with the issue. It still sounds like he’s going to miss at least one start — and could still wind up on the injured list — but the Giants aren’t expecting him to miss a significant amount of time.     • Charlie Morton chased after three innings
      Charlie Morton had a rough start Wednesday allowing three earned runs in just three innings. The Cubs had five hits while Morton walked three more and struck out four.

      Advice: Mike Tauchman homered on the first pitch he saw from Morton and nothing was easy after that. Even the unearned he allowed was on his own poor pick-off attempt wide or Matt Olson at first base. It’s still been a solid season overall for Morton and he’ll take a 3.52 ERA into a rematch against these Cubs on Monday. Rotoworld Wednesday, 7:47 pm
       
    • Tanner Houck punches out seven in 5 ⅔ innings
      Tanner Houck couldn’t get through the sixth inning against the Rays, but still managed to strike out seven and allow just two earned runs in a loss Wednesday. He also gave up five hits and three walks.

      Advice: Houck was humming along until back-to-back singles in the sixth inning sent Alex Cora to the bullpen with Houck at 112 pitches, the highest total of his career. Greg Weissert then allowed both inherited runners to score, spoiling Houck’s chance for a victory. Still solid, he’s looked more mortal in his last three starts with a 3.86 ERA and 20.0 K%.     • Injury considered mild
      Manager Bob Melvin said Wednesday that Winn's forearm tightness is "pretty mild," Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

      Advice: Winn was removed in the fifth inning of his start in Tuesday's 10-2 loss to the Dodgers after his forearm started bothering him. Though Melvin suggested that the right-hander's injury isn't too severe, the skipper acknowledged that Winn could still miss some time.
