    • MacKenzie Gore allows one run in loss to Dodgers
MacKenzie Gore yielded one run over six innings on Thursday in a loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: Gore coaxed an impressive 17 swinging strikes, but it only led to four strikeouts and a pedestrian 27 percent CSW. He gave up only seven hits as a second-inning solo shot by Teoscar Hernández represented the lone tally against him in this one. Yet, it was still enough to hand him a loss as Washington’s offense mustered only one run on seven hits combined. He’ll bring a respectable 3.12 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 38/8 K/BB ratio across 26 innings (five starts) into a challenging road matchup on Tuesday against the defending World Series champion Rangers. • Zack Wheeler stymies Reds in win
Zack Wheeler threw six shutout innings in a 5-0 win over the Reds, allowing just one hit while striking out eight.

Advice: Wheeler did walk four batters on the day but he also posted an impressive 36 percent whiff rate and 33 percent CSW. He beat the Reds with heat today, getting the most whiffs on both his four-seamer and sinker, and got only a 17 percent chase rate. Basically, he came at the Reds in the zone and they weren’t able to handle it on Thursday. The effort lowered his season ERA to 1.93 and he’ll look to keep it going in a much easier matchup against the Angels next time out. Rotoworld Today, 2:17 pm

    • Locks down eighth save
Clase earned the save Thursday against the Red Sox, striking out one in a perfect ninth inning.

Advice: It's the fifth straight scoreless outing from Clase -- he's allowed just one hit while striking out eight in his last five innings. Overall, the right-hander is 8-for-10 in save chances this year with a stellar 0.69 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 14:1 K:BB over 13 innings. Rotowire.com Today, 1:50 pm
    • Clase locks down 8th save of the season
Emmanuel Clase threw a scoreless ninth inning in a 6-4 win over the Red Sox.

Advice: Clase struck out one and didn’t allow a baserunner in his one inning of work. He now has eight saves and a 0.69 ERA on the season. Considering how well the Guardians have been playing but that their offense doesn’t usually blow opponents out, Clase should be in line for quite a few save opportunities this season. • Second straight one-hitter
Wheeler (2-3) earned the win Thursday against the Reds, allowing one hit and four walks over six scoreless innings. He struck out eight.

Advice: Wheeler's allowed just one hit in consecutive starts, as he's held opponents scoreless in 13.1 consecutive innings, posting 16 strikeouts in that span. The 33-year-old right-hander has arguably been the top fantasy starting option early in the season -- he lowered his ERA to 1.93 with a 0.88 WHIP and 46:11 K:BB through six starts (37.1 innings). Wheeler will look to keep rolling in his next outing, tentatively scheduled as a road matchup Tuesday against the Angels. Rotowire.com Today, 1:03 pm

    • Resting Thursday
Heim is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Mariners.

Advice: Heim looks to be receiving some routine maintenance as the Rangers and Mariners wrap up their series with a day game after a night game. Andrew Knizner will get the starting nod behind the plate. Rotowire.com Today, 8:52 am

    • Getting breather Thursday
Chourio is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game in Pittsburgh.

Advice: Chourio is 1-for-12 with eight strikeouts over his last four games, so he'll get a breather as the Brewers and Pirates wrap up their series with a day game after a night game. Joey Wiemer will pick up a start in the outfield in Chourio's stead. Rotowire.com Today, 6:46 am

    • Fans six in no-decision
Manaea did not factor into the decision in a win over the Giants on Wednesday, hurling 4.2 shutout innings while allowing four hits and four walks. He struck out six.

Advice: Manaea struck out the side in the first inning but got himself into trouble in the second after giving up two walks and a single to open the frame. Fortunately for the right-hander, he was still able to work his way out of it without seeing any runs come home while also working his way through a similar jam in the third. Manaea issued a season-high four walks in the contest and has surrendered multiple walks in all five of his outings to open the campaign. However, he's also limited opposing offenses to one or fewer runs three of his five starts. Rotowire.com Today, 4:30 am

    • Dansby Swanson hits first homer since April 8
Dansby Swanson slugged a three-run homer on Wednesday, propelling the Cubs to a 4-3 victory over the Astros.

Advice: Swanson connected for a tone-setting homer off Astros rookie right-hander Spencer Arrighetti as part of Chicago’s four-run opening frame, which wound up being enough offense for Jameson Taillon and a quartet of Cubs relievers. It was his third long ball of the season and first time he’s gone deep since April 8. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:52 pm
