      Jared Jones tossed seven shutout innings with ten strikeouts in a no-decision against the Rockies on Saturday.

      Advice: There were some concerns over Jones’ velocity his last time out. He looked just fine on Saturday, shutting down the Rockies over seven innings. He was back up to 97.6 mph on the fastball, generating 17 whiffs to strike out ten batters. Jones allowed just one baserunner on the day, a double by Elias Díaz in the fifth inning. The 22-year-old right-hander will take an outstanding 2.63 ERA, 0.78 WHIP, and a 52/5 K/BB ratio across 41 innings into a start against the Cubs in Pittsburgh on Friday.       Ohtani went 1-for-3 with a run, an RBI, two walks and two stolen bases Friday in a 4-3 extra-innings victory versus Atlanta.

      Advice: Ohtani's first theft came in the third inning, and it led to Los Angeles' first run, as Will Smith followed with a two-out RBI single. It looked like Ohtani would be picked off in the eighth frame, but Matt Olson mishandled the throw to first base, allowing the Japanese superstar to make to second base safely. Ohtani later came up with a huge hit in the bottom of the 10th, stroking a one-out single to center field to plate the tying run after Atlanta had scored in the top of the frame. Ohtani continues to put up big numbers for the Dodgers and for his fantasy managers, as he's slashing .336/.405/.612 with seven homers, 20 RBI, 26 runs and seven steals (in seven attempts) through 153 plate appearances.       Encarnacion-Strand went 0-for-3 in Friday's 3-0 loss to Baltimore.

      Advice: Encarnacion-Strand missed the last four games with a hand injury. His first full season in the majors has gotten off to a rocky start, as the first baseman is slashing .190/.216/.305 over 111 plate appearances. His strikeout rate is nearly identical to what it was in 2023, but the walk rate is about half of what it was last year and Encarnacion-Strand is in the fifth percentile in chase percentage. Pages has enjoyed a productive start to his big league career, slashing .333/.354/.567 with three home runs, 11 RBI and 12 runs scored over 65 plate appearances.       Advice: Acuña Jr. hasn’t shown a ton of power in the early portion of the season, but he came through in a big way with a game-tying homer in the eighth off Daniel Hudson in the eighth. That’s just the second roundtripper of the season for the reigning MVP, but it’s hard to fathom the power isn’t going to come from a player that swatted 41 homers in 2023.       Andy Pages went 4-for-5 with the game-winning single in the 11th inning to give the Dodgers a 4-3 win over Atlanta on Friday.

      Advice: Pages put an end to that chapter, with the chapter being an 11-inning affair in this case. The rookie outfielder has his first ever four-hit game, and one of those was a walk-off single in the 11th off Jesse Chavez.       Cruz went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Rockies.

      Advice: The 25-year-old shortstop had gone 17 straight games without a homer coming into Friday and nearly made it 18. but he got hold of a Jalen Beeks changeup in the ninth inning to make things close for the Pirates. It was Cruz's fourth long ball of the season and his first off a southpaw, and the RBI were his first since April 22.       Oneil Cruz hit a two-run homer to provide the only scoring for the Pirates against the Rockies on Friday.

      Advice: Unfortunately, the Pirates were down three in the ninth at the time. To go along with his 111.7-mph homer, Cruz also had a 111-3 mph line drive, that unfortunately was hit right at the center fielder, and a 103.3-mph groundout.     • Won't make another rehab start
      Manager Alex Cora said Friday that Pivetta (elbow) won't require another rehab start and will return from the 15-day injured list to make his next start with Boston, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

      Advice: Pivetta surrendered four runs over three-plus innings during his lone rehab start at Triple-A Worcester on Thursday. Despite his subpar performance, the Red Sox will waste no time returning the 31-year-old right-hander to their rotation, which has already been hit hard by injuries this season. Pivetta has given up one earned run across 11 innings through two starts in 2024. He appears in line to make his return to the rotation in Atlanta on Tuesday or Wednesday.
