      Cease (5-3) took the loss Tuesday against the Rockies, allowing three runs on five hits and a walk while striking out eight over 5.2 innings.

      Advice: Cease blanked the Rockies through three before Ryan McMahon took him deep to lead off the fourth. He then ran into some trouble in the sixth, allowing an additional run before being pulled with two outs in the inning and being charged with a third run before the frame concluded. It was just the second time this year Cease has failed to complete six innings and his first since his season debut. The strikeouts continue to pile up, as he's punched out at least eight in four of his last five starts and is second in the majors with 68 over 55 innings.     • Dominant in Tuesday's win
      Sale (6-1) picked up the win in Tuesday's 7-0 victory over the Cubs, scattering two hits over seven scoreless innings. He struck out nine without walking a batter.

      Advice: The veteran southpaw simply overmatched Chicago's hitters, and the only runner to get into scoring position against Sale came after one of his two HBPs on the night. He generated 30 called or swinging strikes among his 92 pitches as he produced his second straight quality start and fourth of the season. Sale will take a 2.54 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and eye-popping 61:8 K:BB through 49.2 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come at home early next week against the Padres.     • Dylan Cease fans eight in loss to Rockies
      Dylan Cease surrendered three runs in 5 2/3 innings Tuesday in a loss to the Rockies.

      Advice: The third run came after he was pulled in the sixth. Cease struck out eight and gave up just four hard-hit balls, although one was a homer. It’s just the second time this season that he’s failed to complete six innings. Ideally, he would have done better than this with the matchup against a terrible offense at Petco Park, but there’s very little to be disappointed about here so far.     • Chris Sale stays hot in domination of Cubs
      Chris Sale threw seven shutout innings in a 7-0 win over the Cubs, allowing just two hits and striking out nine.

      Advice: He’s now allowed just two runs over his last 25 innings. Sale’s slider carved up the Cubs all game, with a 44 percent whiff rate and 34 percent CSW on the pitch. The average exit velocity on all contact against Sale was just 81 mph as the left-hander mowed down the Cubs’ order. The effort gave him a 2.54 ERA on the year to go along with 61 strikeouts to just eight walks in 49 2/3 innings.       Hicks allowed two runs on seven hits and struck out four without walking a batter over five innings in a no-decision versus the Dodgers on Monday.

      Advice: Hicks wasn't particularly efficient Monday, throwing 56 of 93 pitches for strikes. He's failed to get past the fifth inning in all three of his starts in May after doing so in three of his first six outings of the year. The right-hander has pitched to a steady 2.44 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 39:16 K:BB through 48 innings this season. He's given up nine runs (seven earned) through 14 innings in May, albeit with less-than-ideal matchups and venues. Hicks' next start is projected to be at home versus the Rockies.       Jordan Hicks pitched five innings of two-run ball before being lifted against the Dodgers on Monday.

    • José Berríos completes seven frames in no-decision
      José Berríos allowed two runs over seven innings on Monday in a no-decision against the Orioles.

      Advice: Berríos struck out four and only handed out one free pass. He limited Baltimore’s exciting lineup to just three hits over seven frames with a pair of Adley Rutschman solo homers accounting for all of the damage against him in this one. It was a much-needed rebound effort for the 29-year-old righty after being torched for eight runs over 3 2/3 innings his last time out against the Phillies. He’ll bring a solid 2.82 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 42/16 K/BB ratio across 54 1/3 innings (nine starts) into a home outing on Sunday against the Rays. Rotoworld Monday, 7:08 pm
       
    • Bounces back with quality start
      Berrios did not factor into the decision Monday against the Orioles, allowing two runs on three hits and one walk over seven innings. He struck out four.

      Advice: Berrios allowed two solo homers to Adley Rutschman but otherwise only allowed one additional single through seven quality innings. It was a nice bounce-back performance for Berrios, who was lit up for eight runs in his last start against the Phillies after having allowed just seven runs total through his first seven appearances. He will carry a 2.82 ERA and 1.05 WHIP into his next start, tentatively scheduled to take place over the weekend when the Blue Jays host the Rays. Rotowire.com Monday, 6:42 pm

      Kremer (3-3) took the loss Sunday against Arizona, allowing six runs (three earned) on four hits and four walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out 10.

      Advice: Kremer notched double-digit strikeouts for the second time this season, tying his career high in the category. He fell off after retiring the first nine batters he faced, allowing at least two baserunners in each of the following innings before getting the yank in the sixth. He was pulled after allowing a two-run homer to Jake McCarthy and walking Kevin Newman consecutively. Despite having allowed nine homers in 46.0 innings this season, Kremer owns a solid 3.72 ERA and a 47:15 K:BB. Kremer's next start is scheduled to come Saturday against Seattle.
