      Estes allowed two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out one over six innings in a no-decision versus the Twins on Friday.

      Advice: Estes was tagged for six runs over 2.2 innings in his previous start at Minnesota, but he responded with his second quality start in eight outings this season. The downside was his single strikeout, which was a season low for the right-hander. He's now at a 5.53 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 31:10 K:BB over 40.2 innings.     • Dylan Cease strikes out 10, allows four runs vs. MIL
      Dylan Cease allowed four runs in 4 2/3 innings in a no-decision with 10 strikeouts against the Brewers on Friday.

      Advice: Cease needed 106 pitches to get the 14 outs, so he wasn’t able to get the final out needed to qualify for a win. The right-hander did at least help with the punchouts, and he’s now struck out 116 in his 91 1/3 innings in his first year with the Padres.     • Colin Rea ineffective in start against Padres
      Colin Rea gave up five runs in 5 1/3 innings against the Padres on Friday.

      Advice: Rea gave up two homers and four more hits — six total, for those who don’t feel like doing math right now — and he didn’t get a single strikeout while issuing two walks. It was a poor outing for the 33-year-old, but one that didn’t affect his win-loss record because of the run support San Diego gave him Friday night.     • Ohtani gets Tungsten O’Doyle’d against former team
      Shohei Ohtani homered and reached four times in a 3-2 loss to the Angels on Friday in 10 innings.

      Advice: We’re used to seeing those type of efforts from Ohtani being wasted, but usually it was for the Angels, not against them. The 29-year-old absolutely destroyed a solo blast off Matt Moore in the fifth for his 22nd homer of the year and 55th RBI of the season. The only blemish was a caught stealing for Ohtani, but that was just the second of the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:56 pm
       
    • Trevor Rogers holds Mariners to two runs
      Trevor Rogers held the Mariners to two runs in 6 1/3 innings Friday in a no-decision.

      Advice: Rogers has a 3.29 ERA over his last seven starts, lowering his season mark from 6.57 to 4.90. Still, he’s a tough sell in mixed leagues with his middling strikeout rate while being back by a lousy team. The Marlins’ win tonight was just their second in the 15 games that Rogers has started.     • George Kirby solid for seven in no-decision
      George Kirby was left with a no-decision after seven innings of two-run ball Friday against the Marlins.

      Advice: Kirby was undone by back-to-back solo homers in the sixth. The first of those, off the bat of Bryan De La Cruz, would have been a homer in three ballparks, according to Statcast. Apart from that sequence, Kirby was masterful. He’s allowed two runs or fewer in 11 of 16 starts. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:56 pm
       
    • Landon Knack fires five scoreless against Angels
      Landon Knack didn’t give up a run while working five innings in his start Friday against the Angels.

      Advice: Knack was called up to start Friday’s opener against the Angels, and he pitched effectively. The 26-year-old allowed just two hits, struck out two and issued two free passes with 48-of-73 pitches landing for strikes. The right-hander has likely earned another start with this effort, but nothing is set in stone. Depending on the matchup, Knack is absolutely worth consideration for fantasy players going forward.     • Mason Miller needs just seven pitches for save
      Mason Miller struck out one in a clean ninth to get a save against the Twins on Friday.

      Advice: Miller “only” picked up one strikeout, but he also needed just seven pitches to get through the outing with five of those landing for strikes. The 25-year-old has locked down 14 saves for the A’s in 2024, and his ERA is a very healthy 2.08. The future is incredibly bright for Miller as long as he can stay on the field, but this version is pretty darn good, too. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:09 pm

      Joey Estes gave up just two runs in six innings in a no-decision Friday against the Twins.

      Advice: Estes gave up just five hits, with one of those being a solo homer to Royce Lewis. Everyone gives up homers to Lewis, so no same there. It was far from a dominant effort with just one strikeout, but effective nonetheless.
