    • Grayson Rodriguez goes seven strong in win
Grayson Rodriguez allowed two runs with six strikeouts over seven innings in a win over the Phillies on Saturday.

Advice: Rodriguez got two quick outs to start the game, but gave up a single and a double that would bring a run in to score for the Phillies in the first. Edmundo Sosa then led off the second inning with a solo homer. Rodriguez settled in to retire ten consecutive batters until working around a single in a scoreless fifth inning. He got into trouble in the sixth with runners on second and third with two outs. Rodriguez got Sosa to strike out swinging to escape the jam, his sixth strikeout on the day. He’d toss one more scoreless frame to complete seven innings for the win. The 24-year-old right-hander will take a 3.20 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, and a 77/23 K/BB ratio across 70 1/3 innings into a start against the Astros in Houston on Friday. Rotoworld 10 minutes ago

    • Taijuan Walker takes loss versus Orioles on Saturday
Taijuan Walker allowed three runs with four strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings in a loss to the Orioles on Saturday.

Advice: Walker tossed a clean first inning, then worked around two baserunners in the second. A double, base hit, and a sacrifice fly brought the first run across the board for the Orioles in the third inning. Anthony Santander then led off the fourth with a solo homer. Walker would pitch into the sixth, giving up the go-ahead run on two hits and a sacrifice fly before leaving with two outs. The 31-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 5.33 ERA, 1.45 WHIP, and a 40/18 K/BB ratio across 49 innings. He lines up for a start against the Diamondbacks in Philadelphia on Friday. • DJ Herz strikes out 13 in dominant win vs. Marlins
DJ Herz tossed six shutout innings with 13 strikeouts in a win over the Marlins on Saturday.

Advice: Herz was dominant against the Marlins on Saturday. Making his third career start, he struck out 13 batters on 21 whiffs over six shutout frames, second most strikeouts by a Nationals rookie behind Stephen Strasburg. Herz allowed just one baserunner on the day, a single by Jake Burger in the fifth inning. The 23-year-old left-hander will take a 3.77 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and a 21/5 K/BB ratio across 14 1/3 innings into a start against the Rockies in Colorado on Friday. Rotoworld 27 minutes ago

Trevor Rogers allowed two runs with three strikeouts across seven innings in a loss to the Nationals on Saturday.

Advice: Trevor Rogers had one of his better starts, going a season-high seven innings against the Nationals. He allowed a run in to score in the first inning on a single, double, and sacrifice fly. Lane Thomas later hit a solo homer in the third. Rogers would settle in for four more scoreless frames, but was saddled with a no-decision as the Marlins were shut down by DJ Herz. The 26-year-old left-hander will take a 5.09 ERA, 1.62 WHIP, and a 55/31 K/BB ratio across 69 innings into a start against the Mariners in Miami on Friday. Rotoworld 28 minutes ago

    • Making last rehab start
Scherzer (back/arm) is expected to throw 70-75 pitches in a rehab start with Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday, which will be his final rehab start barring a setback, Josh Kirshenbaum of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Saturday's start will be Scherzer's second rehab appearance, following up four scoreless innings Sunday. If all goes well, Scherzer will be ready to return to the active roster and make his 2024 debut after undergoing an offseason back surgery and dealing with thumb and forearm issues throughout his recovery. • Carlos Carrasco surrenders five runs in loss
Carlos Carrasco allowed five runs with two strikeouts over five innings in a loss to the Blue Jays on Saturday.

Advice: Carrasco started with a clean first inning, then ran into some trouble in the second. The Blue Jays would bring two runs in on a walk and three hits before Carrasco could record an out. He got out of the frame with three runs scored. A walk and a hit made it four runs after four innings. Carrasco hit two batters in the fifth and allowed one more run before his day was done. The 37-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 5.80 ERA, 1.46 WHIP, and a 44/21 K/BB ratio across 59 innings. He’ll take on the Blue Jays once again in Cleveland on Friday. • Has Grade 2 oblique strain
Wicks was diagnosed with a Grade 2 oblique strain Saturday, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Advice: Craig Counsell didn't offer much of a timeline for Wicks' recovery, mentioning only that Wicks was "going to miss some time." However, a Grade 2 sprain likely indicates that Wicks will be sidelined for significantly longer than the minimum 15 days, leaving his rotation spot to Kyle Hendricks for the foreseeable future. Wicks sustained the injury Friday during his first start since April after spending a month on the IL due to a forearm injury. Rotowire.com Today, 2:17 pm

    • Jordan Wicks diagnosed with Grade 2 oblique strain
Jordan Wicks was diagnosed with a Grade 2 right oblique strain.

Advice: That’s certainly not the news that the Cubs were hoping for. Now rather than missing just a couple of weeks, it’s likely that the 24-year-old southpaw will be looking at an extended absence. Kyle Hendricks is expected to hold down Wicks’ spot in the Cubs’ rotation for the foreseeable future. Rotoworld Today, 2:11 pm

    • Kodai Senga (shoulder) throws bullpen on Saturday
Kodai Senga (shoulder) threw around 30 pitches in a successful two-inning bullpen session on Saturday.

Advice: He’ll throw another bullpen early next week and if all goes well with that session, it sounds like Senga will finally be cleared to face live hitters. He’s still going to need several minor league rehab starts before he’s an option to join the Mets’ rotation, but he’s at least taking small steps in the right direction. Rotoworld Today, 2:01 pm
