    • Takes second straight loss
Skubal (8-3) took the loss Wednesday against Atlanta, allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits and two walks over four innings. He struck out seven.

Advice: Most of the damage against Skubal came via the long ball Wednesday -- he gave up a two-run homer to Sean Murphy in the third inning before Ramon Laureano tacked on a solo shot in the fourth. The 27-year-old Skubal has now lost back-to-back starts for the first time this season -- he's given up eight earned runs over 10.1 innings in that span. The left-hander still sports a solid 2.50 on the year with a 0.97 WHIP and 105:18 K:BB across 90 innings. Skubal is lined up for another tough matchup next week at home versus the Phillies. • Ready for rehab assignment
Bae (wrist) has been sent to Triple-A Indianapolis to begin a rehab assignment, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

Advice: Bae was still with the Pirates in Pittsburgh Wednesday, so his first rehab game with Indianapolis figures to come Thursday. The utility player has been sidelined since early June with a sprained right wrist. Given the short absence, Bae shouldn't need many rehab at-bats before being activated. Rotowire.com 8 minutes ago

    • Hitting bench Wednesday
Clement is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox.

Advice: Clement had started at third base in each of the past three games, but he'll give way to Addison Barger for the series finale. Isiah Kiner-Falefa has paced the Blue Jays with 33 starts at the hot corner this season, but he's likely to see most of his playing time at shortstop for the foreseeable future while Bo Bichette (calf) is on the injured list. Rather than leaning on Clement as its everyday third baseman during Bichette's absence, Toronto could opt to use a committee of Clement, Barger and Orelvis Martinez at the position. • Breaks out with two homers
Murphy went 4-for-4 with a pair of two-run homers and three total runs scored in Wednesday's 7-0 win over the Tigers.

Advice: Murphy extended Atlanta's lead to 3-0 in the third inning with a two-run blast off Tarik Skubal before cranking a second two-run homer in the fifth off Mason Englert. It's the first multi-hit game of the year for Murphy, who was batting just .135 with a lone homer through his first 15 games this season. The 29-year-old backstop will hope Wednesday's outburst is a sign of things to come -- Murphy posted an .843 OPS with 21 homers across 438 plate appearances last year. • Out of Baltimore lineup
Westburg (hip) is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees.

Advice: Westburg was forced from Tuesday's game with a bruised left hip following a collision on the infield with Juan Soto. He is considered day-to-day and it's possible he'll be available off the bench for this one. The Orioles will start Ramon Urias at third base Wednesday. Rotowire.com 11 minutes ago

    • Taking seat Wednesday
Schneider is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox.

Advice: Schneider will retreat to the bench after he started in each of the past three games while going 2-for-12 with a solo home run, a double and two walks. With Schneider out of the lineup, the Blue Jays will open up a spot in the outfield for Kevin Kiermaier, who will be flanked by Daulton Varsho in left field and George Springer in right field. • Suffers right elbow contusion
The Cardinals announced that Arenado was removed in the top of the eighth inning of Wednesday's game against the Marlins due to a right elbow contusion.

Advice: Initial X-rays on Arenado's elbow appear to have revealed no structural damage, but he'll undergo further medical evaluation as the Cardinals look to ascertain that he's not dealing with anything more than a bruise. Before he was lifted from the game for a pitch runner after being hit in the elbow by a 94 mile-per-hour sinker during his fourth plate appearance of the day, Arenado went 2-for-3 with his first stolen base of the season and a run scored. • Danny Jansen dropped to fifth in Toronto order
The Blue Jays have Justin Turner batting second and Danny Jansen hitting fifth Wednesday against the Red Sox.

Advice: Jansen had been hitting second when in the lineup, but he’s batted just .188/.300/.275 in that spot. So, he’s down to fifth today. Davis Schneider will probably bat second over Turner when he’s playing, but he’s sitting today. Rotoworld 19 minutes ago
    • Absent from lineup again
Martinez is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Red Sox.

Advice: Martinez didn't play Tuesday in his first game after receiving a promotion and he will begin Wednesday's tilt on the bench, as well. It's not a good sign for the youngster's playing time outlook during his first stint in the big leagues. The Blue Jays have Spencer Horwitz at second base, Addison Barger at third base and Isiah Kiner-Falefa at shortstop Wednesday. Rotowire.com 22 minutes ago
