    • Nolan Gorman swats solo homer in loss to Marlins
Nolan Gorman belted a solo homer on Wednesday in the Cardinals’ loss to the Marlins.

Advice: Gorman took Marlins starter Yonny Chirinos deep in the second inning for his 16th big fly of the season. It was his lone hit in four at-bats in a low-scoring affair down in Miami. The 24-year-old slugging second baseman is batting just .161 (12-for-70) since the start of July, but half of those hits have left the ballpark, which helps salvage some semblance of fantasy appeal. • Exiting lineup versus lefty
Gorman is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Marlins.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Gorman will take a seat for the series opener in Miami while southpaw Braxton Garrett toes the rubber for the Marlins. Jose Fermin will fill in at second base for Gorman, who is batting .186 against lefties this season. Rotowire.com Monday, 11:39 am

    • Logs third steal
Gorman went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Cubs.

Advice: Gorman entered Sunday just 1-for-28 over his last seven games, though the slump hasn't cost him playing time. The second baseman picked up a steal after his second-inning single, giving him three thefts on four attempts this year. For the season, Gorman is slashing .208/.287/.442 with 15 home runs, 33 RBI, 30 runs scored and eight doubles over 64 contests. He's also striking out at a 35.5 percent rate, and until he corrects that issue, he's likely to carry a low batting average. Rotowire.com Sunday, 10:38 pm

    • Jose Altuve powers Astros past Tigers on Sunday
Jose Altuve blasted a three-run homer in the second inning on Sunday, powering the Astros to a 4-1 victory over the Tigers in their series finale in Houston.

Advice: The Astros scratched out a run in the opening inning as Altuve singled, took second on a wild pitch and raced around to score on a single off the bat of Yordan Alvarez. He then clobbered a game-changing 402-foot (101.9 mph EV) three-run shot off of Kenta Maeda with two outs in the second inning that proved to be the difference in the ballgame. Altuve finished the afternoon 2-for-3 plus a walk and a stolen base and is now slashing a healthy .299/.350/.460 on the season to go along with 11 homers, 29 RBI and 10 stolen bases on the season. • Homers, steals bag in win
Altuve went 2-for-3 with a three-run homer, two runs and a stolen base in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Tigers.

Advice: With two men on and two out in the second inning, Altuve took Kenta Maeda deep for his 11th long ball of the season. He added another hit and then reached on a walk in the eighth to then pick up his 10th stolen base of the campaign. It was Altuve's second home run in his last seven games after a streak of 17 games without a blast. The second baseman has been hot as of late, hitting .333 in June, and for the season he's slashing a healthy .299/.350/.460. Rotowire.com Sunday, 1:55 pm

    • Jose Altuve doubles twice as Astros defeat Tigers
Jose Altuve went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and a run scored on Friday evening, helping to lead the Astros past the Tigers.

Advice: Altuve got a rally started with a leadoff double off of Tarik Skubal to begin the sixth inning. He then scored the game’s first run on Alex Bregman’s ensuing RBI triple. Altuve also drew a walk in the ballgame, reaching base safely in three of his four plate appearances. With his two-hit attack, the 34-year-old second baseman is now slashing an outstanding .298/.349/.453 to go along with 10 homers, 26 RBI and nine stolen bases on the season. • Nolan Gorman goes 0-for-4 against Pirates
Nolan Gorman finished 0-for-4 as the Cardinals’ cleanup man Thursday against the Pirates.

Advice: Gorman is 3-for-31 in his last eight games, putting him back down to .215/.297/.463 for the season. That’s still a pretty good line in the current offensive climate, but he’d be better cast as a No. 6 hitter. Rotoworld Thursday, 2:57 pm

    • Produces lone run
Gorman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Pirates.

Advice: Neither team scored a run in the first eight innings of Tuesday's contest, with the Pirates scoring a pair of runs in the top of the ninth. Down 2-0, Gorman tried to kick-start a Cardinals comeback, leading off with a solo homer, but St. Louis couldn't plate the game-tying run. Since the start of June, Gorman is 10-for-38 (.263) with five homers, eight RBI and seven runs scored. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 11:52 pm

    • Nolan Gorman hits 15th homer in loss to Pirates
Nolan Gorman went 1-for-4 with a home run in the Cardinals’ loss to the Pirates on Tuesday.

Advice: Gorman’s solo blast in the bottom of the ninth, marked his 15th homer of the season. It was also the only run the Cardinals plated on the evening, as they spent much of the night being locked down by Paul Skenes and the Pirates’ bullpen. Gorman has just three hits in his last five games and is slashing .265/.342/.618 on the month.
