      Castillo (6-9) took the loss against the Rays on Tuesday, allowing four runs on five hits and four walks with four strikeouts over 5.1 innings.

      Advice: Castillo surrendered a leadoff home run to Yandy Diaz in the first inning and an RBI single to Jose Siri in the second. He responded with three scoreless frames but was pulled after walking two batters in the sixth. Both baserunners scored, resulting in the third time Castillo has yielded at least four earned runs in June. The 31-year-old owns a 3.79 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 100:30 K:BB over 99.2 innings this season and lines up to face the Orioles next week. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:56 pm
       
    • Luis Castillo chased in 6th in loss to Rays
      Luis Castillo allowed four runs on five hits in 5 1/3 innings in a loss to the Rays on Tuesday.

      Advice: The Mariners ace struck out four and walked four on the day. He wasn’t sharp, with just a 44 percent zone rate on the day, but he had kept it together until the sixth inning. With the game tied at two, Castillo got one quick out but walked the next two hitters and was chased from the game. Michael Baumann then allowed a triple and a home run to bring in both inherited runners. Castillo had nine whiffs on 44 swings for a 20 percent whiff rate and 29 percent CSW on the day. We can probably chalk this up to a poor start, but it’s his second straight one so we’d like to see him right the ship next time out. The only problem is that the start comes against the Orioles.     • Runs up pitch count in no-decision
      Peralta allowed two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out six batters over five innings in a no-decision against Texas on Monday.

      Advice: Peralta pitched pretty well in the outing, but he could go only five frames as a result of throwing 104 pitches. That's been a theme for the right-hander of late, as he's completed six innings in only one of his past six starts despite allowing three or fewer earned runs in five of those outings. Peralta's 4.03 ERA and 1.17 WHIP on the campaign are on pace for his worst marks since 2019, though he's been able to rack up 112 strikeouts (fifth-most in the majors) over 87 innings.       Freddy Peralta allowed two runs over five innings and struck out six versus the Rangers on Monday.

      Advice: Peralta got 15 whiffs tonight, but he ran up a pitch count of 104 in five innings, preventing him from working any deeper into the game. He’s finished six innings just once in his last six starts, which is a real problem given that he’s supposed to be the ace of a rotation that’s quite shorthanded at the moment.       King (5-5) allowed five runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out eight over six innings to take the loss Sunday versus the Brewers.

      Advice: King had given up a total of five runs across his previous five outings, but he had just one win in that span despite a 34:9 K:BB over 26.2 innings. He wasn't as good Sunday, as the Brewers pieced together a two-out rally in the second inning that accounted for four of the five runs on his line. King is now at a 3.75 ERA with a 1.29 WHIP and 109:38 K:BB through 93.2 innings over 17 appearances (16 starts) this season. The right-hander is projected to make his next start at Boston.     • Michael King tagged for five runs in loss Sunday
      Michael King struggled in a losing effort against the Brewers on Sunday afternoon, giving up five runs on nine hits over his six innings of work.

      Advice: King helped to salvage his day, at least from a fantasy perspective, by racking up eight strikeouts and issuing just one base on balls. All of the damage done against him came in the second inning, as the Brewers strung together five singles and a triple to push five runs across. He settled in nicely after that and finished his day with four scoreless frames, but it was too late at that point. King got 11 swings and misses on 97 pitches on the day, posting a CSW of 31 percent. The highly inconsistent right-hander will carry a 3.75 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and a 109/38 K/BB ratio (93 2/3 innings) into Saturday’s matchup against the Red Sox in Boston. Rotoworld Sunday, 3:52 pm

    • Stuck with loss Saturday
      Eflin (3-5) took the loss Saturday as the Rays were downed 4-3 by the Pirates, giving up four runs on five hits and a walk over seven innings. He struck out six.

      Advice: Pittsburgh stung the right-hander for a run in the first inning and three more in the third, and while Eflin settled in after that, the Tampa Bay offense wasn't able to put together a comeback. Eflin's last quality start came May 7, and in six outings since then, he's stumbled to a 4.86 ERA despite a 1.17 WHIP and 24:2 K:BB in 33.1 innings.       Zach Eflin allowed four runs in seven innings and got the loss against the Pirates on Saturday.



      Advice: Eflin gave up five hits, walked one and struck out six. This was the longest of Eflin’s four starts since coming off the injured list and his second start in a row with at least six strikeouts. His ERA on the season is now 4.20. It’s safe to say Eflin hasn’t been able to repeat his breakout season last year when he won 16 games with a 3.50 ERA. The 30-year-old right-hander is set to face the Nationals at home next weekend.

      Zach Eflin gave up four runs in seven innings while being charged with a loss Saturday to the Pirates.

      Advice: Eflin struck out six while issuing one walk. The 30-year-old right-hander gave up a long homer to Oneil Cruz in the first, and then gave up three runs in the third before settling down nicely. It was far from an abhorrent start, but Jared Jones was the better starter Saturday afternoon. Eflin now has a 4.20 ERA and (much more impressive) 63/6 K/BB through his 81 1/3 innings.
