      Josh Hader struck out two while firing a scoreless frame to get a save against the White Sox on Thursday.

      Maikel Garcia is not in the Royals’ lineup for Thursday’s game against the Athletics.

      Advice: The 24-year-old is hitting just .145 in 16 games in June with 12 strikeouts. He does have four steals and 10 runs scored and is coming off a month of May where he hit .305, so this might be nothing but a brief cold stretch. The Royals will hope a day off helps him get back on track. In the meantime, Garrett Hampson will start at second base and hit eighth with Nick Loftin moving over to third base. Finnegan has put together the best first half of his career with a 1.72 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 33:10 K:BB through 31.1 innings, but if the Nats fall out of the wild-card picture, he figures to become one of the team's biggest trade chips given that he has just one more year of arbitration eligibility in 2025 before reaching free agency.
