    King (6-5) picked up the win Saturday, allowing one run on five hits and a walk over six innings in a 11-1 rout of the Red Sox. He struck out six.

    Advice: The right-hander blanked Boston for five innings before serving up a solo shot to Jarren Duran, but San Diego had already compiled a 10-0 lead by that point. King produced his first quality start since June 2 and his seventh of the season on 89 pitches (63 strikes).     Hader struck out two in a perfect inning to earn the save in Saturday's 9-6 win over the Mets.

    Advice: The Astros' late comeback resulted in a save chance, and Hader converted with ease. He's picked up five saves over 11 outings in June while surrendering four runs and posting a 16:1 K:BB across 10.2 innings for the month. Overall, he's 12-for-13 in save chances with a 3.68 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 59:11 K:BB through 36.2 innings this season, with the Astros' mediocre play being the main reason for his reduced saves total, though the team is trending up by going 9-2 over the last two weeks.     Josh Hader tossed a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Mets on Saturday.

    Michael King held the Red Sox to one run over six innings with six strikeouts while picking up a win Saturday.

    Advice: King didn’t have to be at his best with Tanner Houck faltering, but he was pretty close to it, anyway. The right-hander gave up a solo homer to Jarren Duran, and that was it in terms of scoring blemishes. King has been fairly up-and-down in his first year with the Padres, but there have been enough quality starts like this one to keep the optimism going.   • Hector Neris works around jam to pick up save
    Hector Neris allowed two baserunners, but was able to fire a scoreless inning while picking up a save against the Brewers on Saturday.

    Advice: The Hector Neris experience is often successful, but it’s always an experience. The right-hander allowed the winning run to reach the plate after giving up a hit and a walk, but he was able to strike out pinch-hitter Tyler Black and Brice Turang to keep the runners off the board and pick up his 11th save of 2024.   • Blows save, grabs win Friday
    Doval (3-1) allowed a run on one hit and struck out one over over inning, blowing a save but earning the win Friday over the Dodgers.

    Advice: Doval allowed a triple to Andy Pages, who came home on a Jason Heyward sacrifice fly that tied the game at 3-3 in the ninth inning. The Giants then got a walk-off home run from Brett Wisely to make Doval the pitcher of record despite his poor outing. He's given up nine runs over nine innings in June, though a pair of four-run meltdowns account for much of that damage.   • Stunned by San Diego
    Pivetta (4-5) took the loss Friday, coughing up five runs on seven hits and a walk over four-plus innings in a 9-2 loss to the Padres. He struck out four.

    Advice: The right-hander was cruising through four innings, but San Diego erupted for all nine of its runs in the fifth before Boston's pitching staff was able to secure an out. Pivetta served up a two-run homer to Kyle Higashioka to begin that offensive outburst. He's now been taken deep five times over his last three starts, stumbling to a 6.46 ERA and 1.63 WHIP over that stretch despite a 13:3 K:BB in 15.1 innings.   • Camilo Doval blows save, still gets win vs. LAD
    Camilo Doval gave up a run and blew a save Friday, but picked up the win against the Dodgers.

    Advice: Doval gets the win because the stat is flawless and baseball is a fair and just sport. The right-hander gave up a triple to James Outman, and a sac fly from Jason Heyward tied the game at 3-3.   • Handed tough-luck loss
    Montas (3-6) allowed a run on two hits and three walks over six innings Friday, striking out five and taking a loss against St. Louis.

    Advice: Montas gave up an RBI sacrifice fly to Alec Burleson in the third inning but otherwise didn't face too much trouble. However, the Reds were shut out by the Cardinals and Montas was stuck with the loss. He generated 17 whiffs, his second-highest total of the year. He's produced back-to-back quality starts and has three in five outings this month. Montas lowered his season ERA to 4.23 with a 58:30 K:BB through 72.1 innings.
