    • Gets rest day Thursday
Taveras is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Nationals.

Advice: Taveras appears to be getting a routine off day as Washington and Texas conclude their series with a day game after a night game. The 25-year-old had started in each of the Rangers' last five contests, recording at least one hit in each of those games to bring his average up to .229 for the season. Rotowire.com 8 minutes ago
    • Slated for season debut Saturday
Means will start Saturday in Cincinnati, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: Means was officially activated from the 15-day injured list Wednesday and now the Orioles have revealed the date for the left-hander's season debut. While Means pitched poorly for most of his rehab assignment, he was excellent in his final outing with Triple-A Norfolk on Sunday, striking out eight over seven shutout innings while allowing just one hit and one walk. The southpaw got his pitch count up to 95 in that start, so he shouldn't have any workload concerns Saturday against the Reds. Rotowire.com 8 minutes ago

    • Checks out of starting nine
Urias is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Yankees.

Advice: Though he's seen his playing time in the infield pick up of late after second baseman Jackson Holliday was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk last Friday, Urias will head to the bench Thursday after starting at third base in three of the previous four games. Jordan Westburg will occupy the hot corner Thursday, opening up a spot at the keystone for Jorge Mateo. Rotowire.com 13 minutes ago

    • Surgery not ruled out
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Thursday that Yoshida might require surgery on his injured left thumb, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

Advice: Yoshida was placed on the injured list Wednesday with what has been termed a left thumb strain. Cora noted Thursday that the medical staff is still gathering information regarding the injury before a decision is made on next steps for Yoshida, but it appears surgery is one of the possibilities. More clarity on the designated hitter's status should be available by the weekend. Rotowire.com 13 minutes ago

    • Walker Buehler (elbow) to make debut Monday
Walker Buehler (elbow) is scheduled to make his season debut on Monday, according to Dodgers manager Dave Roberts.

Advice: It’s been about 20 months since Buehler has pitched in a major league game, but that will come to an end in just a few days. The 29-year-old hurler has been putting together multiple rehab stints to get ramped up for his return to the Dodgers. In his last outing, he allowed just one run across five innings and threw 75 pitches. This will be a big season for Buehler as he and the team have entertained the possibility of a contract extension in the past, but now it will be an important factor for the team as he enters free agency after 2024. • Gets rest day against lefty
O'Hearn is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Yankees.

Advice: The lefty-hitting O'Hearn will head to the bench for the series finale while the Yankees bring southpaw Carlos Rodon to the bump. Adley Rutschman will receive a day off behind the plate and will fill in for O'Hearn as the Orioles' designated hitter. Rotowire.com 15 minutes ago

    • Giants recall Randy Rodríguez from Triple-A
Giants recalled RHP Randy Rodríguez from Triple-A Sacramento.

Advice: The 24-year-old will come up to the majors and hopefully be an arm the Giants can rely on in the bullpen. The 24-year-old has impressed early on in Triple-A as he’s posted a 1.69 ERA, 1.03 WHIP with a 10/4 K/BB ratio across 10 2/3 innings of work. Rotoworld 19 minutes ago
    • Giants option Daulton Jefferies to Triple-A
Giants optioned RHP Daulton Jefferies to Triple-A Sacramento.

Advice: Jefferies has appeared in two games (one start) for the Giants this season and has allowed nine earned runs in his 4 2/3 innings of work. Not good. The 28-year-old missed all of last season after he underwent Tommy John surgery and will hopefully get right down at Triple-A. Rotoworld 19 minutes ago
    • Athletics option Ryan Noda to Triple-A
Athletics optioned 1B Ryan Noda to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Advice: The 28-year-old outfielder will head back to the minors to continue his development as he got off to a brutal start this season. Noda has just 11 hits in his 100 plate appearances with the Athletics this season. He showed some promise last season with a .770 OPS but that’s dipped over 300 points to .440 in 2024.
