    • Homer, steal in win
Gelof went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a stolen base in Wednesday's 2-1 win over the Mariners.

Advice: Gelof's bat is coming around -- he's 7-for-23 (.304) with two homers and three doubles during his six-game hitting streak. Prior to the streak, he went just 7-for-51 (.137) across his first 14 games back from an oblique injury. Gelof is slashing just .193/.254/.331 on the year, adding five homers, six steals, 13 RBI and 18 runs scored over 44 contests, but he'll get every chance to continue starting at second base for a team that has struggled to be competitive. • Zack Gelof slugs home run to lead A’s to victory
Zack Gelof went 2-for-3 with a solo homer and a stolen base in the Athletics’ 2-1 win over the Mariners in Wednesday.

Advice: Gelof had a big day at the plate in the A’s victory over the Mariners on Wednesday. He got the scoring started with a solo homer in the third inning, then singled and stole second base in the fifth. The 24-year-old second baseman is coming around at the dish, riding a modest six-game hitting streak. He’s slashing .193/.254/.331 with five homers and six steals across 182 plate appearances. • Officially demoted to Triple-A
The Twins optioned Julien to Triple-A St. Paul on Monday.

Advice: Julien put up a 132 OPS+ last season as a rookie and opened the 2024 campaign as the Twins' leadoff man against right-handed pitching. While he started off with an .830 OPS in April this season, he posted a .482 OPS with a 36.5 percent strikeout rate since May 1. Julien could regain a regular role with Minnesota later this season, but he'll head to St. Paul for now as he looks to get back on track. Willi Castro will likely take over as the Twins' primary second baseman, with Kyle Farmer being mixed in against lefties. Rotowire.com Monday, 6:40 am

    • Twins option Edouard Julien to Triple-A St. Paul
Twins optioned INF Edouard Julien to Triple-A St. Paul.

Advice: As anticipated, the 25-year-old infielder is sent out to make room on the active roster for the return of Royce Lewis on Tuesday. Julien had been mired in quite the slump — slashing just .169/.274/.181 with zero homers, five RBI and a 36/12 K/BB ratio over 95 plate appearances over his last 32 games dating back to April 28. Hopefully playing every day at the Triple-A level is enough to cure what ails him. We haven’t seen the last of Julien in the big leagues this season. Rotoworld Monday, 6:14 am

    • Provides lone run
Gelof went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during Sunday's 3-1 loss to Atlanta.

Advice: Gelof put up the A's only tally Sunday, swatting a game-tying homer off Dylan Lee in the seventh inning. The long ball was Gelof's fourth of the season, and his first since April 22. The second baseman finished the three-game series with Atlanta 3-for-11 (.273) with three extra-base hits, two RBI and three runs. Rotowire.com Sunday, 8:40 pm

    • Twins likely to option Edouard Julien to Triple-A
The Twins are expected to option struggling infielder Edouard Julien to Triple-A St. Paul prior to Tuesday’s series opener against the Yankees in New York.

Advice: The 25-year-old infielder had a closed-door meeting with skipper Rocco Baldelli after Sunday’s game and was then seen getting hugs and handshakes from teammates. Take that as you will, but someone needs to be sent out to make room for the return of Royce Lewis on Tuesday and all signs point to Julien. He’s hitting just .207/.309/.367 on the season, though he does have seven homers, 17 RBI and six stolen bases. Fantasy managers who may have been relying on him for next week should make other arrangements. Rotoworld Sunday, 2:18 pm

    • Demotion could be coming
Julien had a meeting with manager Rocco Baldelli and subsequently met with teammates after Sunday's win over the Astros, which could indicate the second baseman is headed to Triple-A St. Paul as Royce Lewis (quadriceps) is set to return from the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Julien hit out of the No. 9 hole Sunday and went 0-for-2 with a walk, which dropped his season slash line to .207/.309/.367 through 58 games. The 25-year-old has a 34 percent strikeout rate this year, and the return of Lewis provides an opportunity for Julien to get back on track in a lower-pressure environment. The Twins have yet to make an official announcement regarding Lewis and who he'll replace on the MLB roster. Rotowire.com Sunday, 2:12 pm

    • Zack Gelof homers in loss
Zack Gelof went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to the Braves on Sunday.

Advice: It’s been a season to forget so far for Gelof as injuries and poor play have dulled the shine of his tremendous rookie season. The home run was his fourth in 42 games and he has five stolen bases too, but an ugly 33.9 K% entering play on Sunday has held him back so far. Rotoworld Sunday, 1:25 pm

    • Julien, Kepler, Larnach, Kirilloff out Saturday vs. lefty
Edouard Julien, Max Kepler, Trevor Larnach and Alex Kirilloff are not in the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Astros.

Advice: No surprises here as Minnesota continues rotating their quartet of left-handed bats in and out of the lineup depending on matchups. It’ll be Carlos Santana, Manuel Margot, Kyle Farmer and Ryan Jeffers getting the nod to face Astros southpaw Framber Valdez. Rotoworld Saturday, 9:18 am
