    • Manny Machado swats two-run HR in victory
Manny Machado hit a two-run homer in a victory over the Diamondbacks on Friday.

Advice: Machado extended the Padres’ lead to 7-0 with a two-run shot in the fifth. The third baseman also drew a walk, and it helps his improve his slash to .250/.306/.403 over 124 at-bats. Rotoworld Today, 9:25 pm
    • Tyler Black batting cleanup in first MLB start
Tyler Black is batting cleanup and playing first base in his first MLB start against the Rays on Wednesday.

Advice: The Brewers’ No. 4 prospect will be thrown into an opportune spot in his first major league start. Black got his first taste of the big leagues on Tuesday when he came in as a pinch hitter and went 2-for-4 with a double and a run. The 25-year-old came to Milwaukee batting .303 with five homers and three steals at Triple-A Nashville this season and is absolutely worth stashing in all fantasy formats given his power and speed if he’s still available. • Timely hit in Tuesday's win
Machado went 1-for-5 with a three-run double in Tuesday's 6-4 win over the Reds.

Advice: Machado stepped up to the plate in the fifth with the bases juiced and cleared them all with a double to center field. That was his first extra-base hit since April 14 and his first multi-RBI game since April 12. He's tallied a hit in four of his five games since being reinstated from the paternity list and is now slashing .250/.304/.388 with four homers, 16 RBI, 16 runs and a 9:29 BB:K in 125 plate appearances. • Tallies two hits in debut
Black went 2-for-4 and scored a run during Tuesday's win over Tampa Bay.

Advice: Black was not in the Brewers' starting lineup Tuesday, but he ended up serving as the designated hitter for most of the game after Gary Sanchez (hamstring) was removed from the game in the first inning. Black doubled and singled in his first two MLB at-bats, and he was able to score his first run in the big leagues thanks to a fifth-inning Willy Adames homer. The 23-year-old infielder will likely see the field most often versus right-handed starters, though he showed he can hold his own against lefties Tuesday, as both of his hits Tuesday came off of southpaws. • Brewers call up top prospect Tyler Black
Brewers selected the contract of INF Tyler Black from Triple-A Nashville.

Advice: Black is one of the more intriguing prospects in the fantasy landscape, thanks to his combination of elite plate discipline and power/speed production in tandem with his ability to handle several defensive spots. The 23-year-old infielder gets his first look in the big leagues after batting .303 (30-for-99) with five homers and three steals in 25 games this season for Triple-A Nashville. He slashed a robust .284/.417/.513 with 18 homers and 55 steals in 558 plate appearances last year between Double-A Biloxi and Triple-A Nashville. He’s absolutely worthy of a speculative roster spot in all fantasy formats. Rotoworld Tuesday, 2:14 pm

    • Officially promoted
The Brewers selected Black's contract from Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday.

Advice: After slashing .303/.393/.525 across 117 plate appearances this season at Triple-A, Black will officially come up from the minors to give the Brewers an additional option at first and third base. He will not start Tuesday's game against the Rays, as Rhys Hoskins and Joey Ortiz will get the nod at those respective positions against left-hander Tyler Alexander. However, the lefty-hitting Black figures to challenge Jake Bauers for starts at first base against right-handed starters. In order to make room for Black on the active roster, Owen Miller was optioned to Nashville and Wade Miley (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day injured list. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 2:11 pm

    • Expected to be called up
The Brewers are expected to add Black to the roster prior to Tuesday's game against the Rays, Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports.

Advice: Black got off to a sluggish start at Triple-A Nashville this season but was hitting .328/.425/.612 with five home runs and three stolen bases across his last 17 games. The 23-year-old has plenty of past experience at second and third base but has been used almost exclusively at first base this season. That would seem to point to Black mostly being a threat to Jake Bauers' playing time, although it's possible the Brewers will use Black some at third base, too. Black hit 18 homers and stole 55 bases between Double-A Biloxi and Nashville in 2023 and should be scooped up in most fantasy formats where he's available. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 10:55 am

    • Belts homer in win
De La Cruz went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Monday in a 5-2 victory against the Padres.

Advice: De La Cruz set the Reds on a positive path with his massive 443-foot solo shot to center field in the first inning. The long ball snapped a four game-stretch during which the dynamic young shortstop didn't knock any extra-base hits and went just 1-for-13 at the plate, though he did maintain valuable production with three thefts during that span. De La Cruz has been one of baseball's most impressive performers early in the campaign, slashing .280/.390/.590 with eight home runs, 19 RBI, 26 runs and a league-leading 18 stolen bases through 118 plate appearances. • Swipes two bags
De La Cruz went 0-for-2 with two walks, stole two bases and scored a run in Cincinnati's loss to Texas on Friday.

Advice: Despite not being able to tally a base hit during Friday's game, De La Cruz was able to make his presence felt by drawing a walk in the first inning and eventually stealing home to score Cincinnati's first and only run of the game. He walked again and stole second base in the fifth inning, giving him an MLB-best 17 thefts on the season. Along with his exceptional baserunning, the 22-year-old infielder has been outstanding at the plate, slashing .299/.419/.621 with seven homers and 18 RBI through his first 105 plate appearances.
