  • Jhoan Duran allows winning run to Guardians
Jhoan Duran gave up an eighth inning home run to José Ramirez and took the loss on Friday night.

Advice: Duran entered this game tied in the eighth inning against the top of the Guardians’ order and allowed the game-winning run. It would’ve been interesting to see how the Twins managed Duran had he got through the inning cleanly: he’s yet to pitch more than an inning this season and hasn’t thrown more than 18 pitches. • Emmanuel Clase locks down Twins for save
Emmanuel Clase worked a clean ninth inning and struck out one Twin to tie the league-lead with 13 saves.

Advice: Clase has been unhittable this season allowing just one earned run across 22 ⅓ innings. He’s changed up his approach, throwing more cutters and working outside the zone more often. It’s generating significantly more chases. He’s firmly one of the best closers in baseball. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:46 pm
  • Collects second win
Herrin (2-0) allowed a hit and a walk without giving up a run in one-third of an inning to earn the win Friday over the Twins.

Advice: Herrin allowed an inherited runner to score in the eighth inning, which tied the game at 2-2, but the Guardians retook the lead in their half of the frame on a Jose Ramirez solo home run. It'll go down as Herrin's first blown save of the campaign. The southpaw has been quite effective so far with a 0.93 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 21:8 K:BB over 19.1 innings while adding four holds through 20 appearances. He doesn't seen a ton of high-leverage work and is not in contention for save chances at this time, as Emmanuel Clase has been nearly untouchable for the Guardians this season. • Simeon Woods Richardson strikes out two on Friday
Simeon Woods Richardson struck out two Guardians in 5 ⅓ innings on Friday. He allowed four hits, one earned run, and walked none.

Advice: The Guardians came into this game ready to attack Woods Richardson and swung at 56% of his pitches. They still only hit six balls hard and couldn’t sustain a rally. Nothing about Woods Richardson’s profile is impressive, but he’s been adept at limiting damage. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:41 pm
  • Dazzles in victory
Ragans (3-3) earned the win Friday against the Athletics, allowing two hits and two walks over seven shutout innings. He struck out seven.

Advice: Ragans dominated a weak Oakland offense Friday night, yielding just one single and one double over his seven innings. The Kansas City southpaw generated a solid 15 whiffs to produce his seven punchouts. Despite two seven-run outings in 2024, Ragans' ERA now stands at 3.70 over 56 innings. The 26-year-old is scheduled to make his next start against the Tigers at home. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:37 pm
  • Yields one run in no-decision
Spence did not factor into the decision Friday against Kansas City, allowing one run on four hits and no walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out two.

Advice: Spence faired well in his first major league start Friday night after tossing his first 25.1 innings out of the bullpen. The rookie right-hander generated nine whiffs over 77 pitches en route to his four strikeouts. Should Spence draw another turn in the Oakland rotation, he would be slated to face the Rockies at home. • Battling finger soreness
Manager Joe Espada said Pressly was unavailable for Friday's game against the Brewers due to a sore finger on his right (throwing) hand, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Pressly's finger issue doesn't appear to be anything too serious, though it may prevent him from pitching for another day or two. The 35-year-old right-hander currently holds a 5.51 ERA and 1.78 WHIP through 16.1 innings and has not appeared in a game since Tuesday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:32 pm
  • Collects first career save
Estrada picked up the save Friday against Atlanta. He pitched a clean inning with three strikeouts.

Advice: Estrada notched his first career save Friday night, retiring the bottom of the order via three strikeouts in 16 pitches. The 25-year-old reliever has dazzled in his first 10.2 innings this season, firing a 0.84 ERA and 0.75 WHIP with 13 strikeouts. However, there shouldn't be any closer controversy in San Diego as Robert Suarez was called upon earlier in a high-leverage spot, facing the heart of the talented Atlanta lineup in the eighth inning Friday night. • Josh Hader holds former team scoreless for save
Josh Hader didn’t give up a run while picking up a save Friday against the Brewers.

Advice: Hader gets the save against one of his former employers in Milwaukee. The southpaw has now saved six games in 2024, and he’s nearly halved his 8.38 ERA on April 19 to 4.50. The issues Hader was dealing with in the earliest portion of the campaign appear to have mostly subsided. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:55 pm
