  • Starting rehab stint Tuesday
Lowe (oblique) will start his rehab assignment Tuesday with Triple-A Durham, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reported Friday.

Advice: Lowe has been sidelined since April 7 with a strained right oblique but will get back to game action Tuesday at Durham. Until he rejoins the big league club, expect Amed Rosario and Curtis Mead to continue seeing most of the action at second base. Rotowire.com 3 minutes ago
  • Rehab assignment starting soon
Fairbanks (arm) is set to begin a rehab stint at Triple-A Durham on Tuesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reported Friday.

Advice: Fairbanks has been dealing with a nerve issue in his throwing arm and after receiving positive results on testing done in late April, he's set to begin throwing in-game. It's unclear how long his stint in Durham will be, but once Fairbanks is back with the Rays, expect him to reclaim closing duties from Jason Adam and Garrett Cleavinger. Rotowire.com 7 minutes ago
  • Remains on bench Friday
Meadows is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Yankees, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Advice: Meadows has gone 3-for-28 over his past 11 games and will sit Friday for the third time in Detroit's past six contests. Wenceel Perez appears to have claimed an everyday role and will start in center field against New York righty Marcus Stroman. Rotowire.com 8 minutes ago
  • Day off for series opener
Lee is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Cardinals.

Advice: Lee will get the day off Friday against the Cardinals, with Martin Maldonado filling in behind the dish for Brad Keller. Lee owns a .758 OPS with three homers in 58 plate appearances. Rotowire.com 11 minutes ago
  • Rejoins big-league club
The Guardians recalled Strzelecki from Triple-A Columbus on Friday, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The right-hander was sent to Columbus in mid-April and will rejoin the big club for Friday's series opener versus the Angels. Strzelecki has delivered scoreless frames in his two outings for Cleveland this season. Rotowire.com 15 minutes ago
  • Could piggyback another starter
The Phillies are considering piggybacking Turnbull with another starter, Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

Advice: Turnbull's stint in the Phillies' rotation was supposed to be temporary while Taijuan Walker (shoulder) worked his way back. However, Turnbull has pitched so well -- posting a 1.67 ERA and 36:10 K:BB in 32.1 innings -- that the club is considering ways to keep him in its rotation even with Walker back in the fold. A six-man rotation hasn't been ruled out, although manager Rob Thomson has indicated it's unlikely. More likely, it seems, is that Turnbull and another starter -- either Walker or Cristopher Sanchez -- are used in tandem, with the decision on who would start and who would be in long relief that day depending on the opposition. Turnbull could still eventually shift to the bullpen -- he hasn't thrown more than 56.2 innings in a season since 2019 -- but it doesn't sound like that's going to happen yet. Thomson has indicated that he could make an announcement regarding his rotation plans as soon as Friday. Rotowire.com 21 minutes ago
  • Sitting against lefty
Biggio is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Nationals.

Advice: Biggio is sitting out for a second consecutive contest, moving to the bench with southpaw Patrick Corbin on the mound for Washington. Instead, Isiah Kiner-Falefa will slide to second base while Ernie Clement mans the hot corner. Rotowire.com 27 minutes ago

  • DFA'd by Guardians
Beede was designated for assignment on Friday, Chris Assenheimer of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.

Advice: Beede has allowed 13 runs across eight innings in his last eight appearances, capped off by a five-run outing against the Astros on Thursday over one-third of an inning. His ERA has ballooned to 8.36 during that stretch after opening up the season with six scoreless innings. Righty Peter Strzelecki was recalled in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com 34 minutes ago
  • Sitting again
Velazquez is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Rangers.

Advice: Velazquez has been less and less of an everyday option for the Royals as the team continues to trot out lineups with Salvador Perez as first, Vinnie Pasquantino at DH and Freddy Fermin behind the dish. Velazquez hasn't done much to warrant an everyday role after starting the season red-hot, with just one hit in his last 27 at-bats. Rotowire.com 41 minutes ago
