  • Battling back spasms
Garver was scratched from Seattle's lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against Kansas City due to upper-back spasms, Daniel Kramer of MLB.comreports.

Advice: The 33-year-old backstop missed a few games in March due to back spasms, though manager Scott Servais said Garver's current injury is unrelated to his previous issue. No timeline was given for his return, but it's possible the M's hold him out for a game or two in order to properly recover. Rotowire.com 11 minutes ago

  • Keaton Winn exits due to forearm tightnesss
The Giants said Keaton Winn suffered from forearm tightness while giving up five runs in four innings Tuesday in a loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: That’s a bummer. Winn has a 6.17 ERA after this, but he’s generally looked better than that suggests. The Giants just sent down Mason Black with Blake Snell set to return to the rotation, but they might need to go back to him now. Rotoworld 11 minutes ago
  • Nelson Velázquez hits three-run homer to lead K.C.
Nelson Velázquez hit a three-run homer off Logan Gilbert in the seventh to lead the Royals to a 4-2 win over the Mariners on Tuesday.

Advice: Velázquez struck out in his other three plate appearances tonight, but the homer was huge, as Gilbert was on the verge of getting through seven scoreless frames. It was just Velázquez’s third homer in 130 plate appearances this season. He had 14 in 147 plate appearances after arriving from the Cubs in a trade last summer. Rotoworld 20 minutes ago
  • Michael Wacha goes six in defeating Mariners
Michael Wacha pitched six innings of one-run ball in a victory over the Mariners on Tuesday.

Advice: Wacha allowed three hits, walked two and struck out seven in improving to 3-4 with a 4.71 ERA. He’s far from one of our favorite picks, but he has a two-start week against the Tigers and Rays coming up, making him somewhat appealing. Rotoworld 21 minutes ago
  • John Schreiber hit by comebacker versus Mariners
John Schreiber was removed in the eighth inning Tuesday against Seattle after taking a comebacker off his leg.

Advice: Schreiber had pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings when he was hit by a Julio Rodríguez liner, that resulted in a single. He appeared to be OK, but the Royals decided to go to closer James McArthur, who was already warming up, with the man on base. Rotoworld 21 minutes ago
  • James McArthur records save against Mariners
James McArthur gave up one run while getting the final four outs for a save Tuesday against the Mariners.

Advice: Mitch Haniger homered off him in the ninth, but the Royals had a three-run lead at the time. It’s the 10th save for McArthur, who has a 4.58 ERA on the season. He’s given up four homers in 19 2/3 innings. Rotoworld 21 minutes ago
  • Logan Gilbert takes loss in quality start
Logan Gilbert lost to the Royals after allowing three runs in 6 2/3 innings Tuesday.

Advice: All of the runs scored on Nelson Velázquez’s homer with two outs in the seventh, after which Gilbert was immediately removed. Obviously, it was an unfortunate conclusion, but it was still a nice rebound outing after he gave up eight runs last time out versus the Twins. Gilbert struck out seven and got 18 missed swings, tied for the second-highest total from any starter tonight (Joe Ross, at 21, was tops). Rotoworld 21 minutes ago
  • Mitch Haniger goes 3-for-3, homers versus Royals
Mitch Haniger finished 3-for-3 with a homer and a walk against the Royals on Tuesday.

Advice: In a late change, Haniger got to DH tonight, as Mitch Garver was scratched. Really, Haniger should be DHing fairly regularly at this point, but that’s pretty much impossible as a result of the Garver signing. There’s also the argument that Haniger shouldn’t be playing much at all, given his .214/.277/.372 line and poor defense in right field. He came through in this one, though. Rotoworld 21 minutes ago
  • Earns first save
Puk earned the save Tuesday against the Tigers, delivering a scoreless 10th inning in a 1-0 victory.

Advice: After the Marlins finally opened the scoring in the top of the 10th inning, Puk induced three straight flyouts in the bottom half to strand the free runner at second and earn his first save in his second appearance out of the bullpen this season. Puk spent three weeks on the IL with shoulder fatigue after struggling mightily to a 9.22 ERA in four chances as a starter. The 29-year-old left-hander certainly had more success out of the bullpen last season, when he pitched to a 3.97 ERA with 15 saves in 56.2 innings. Puk was immediately inserted back into a high-leverage role, though he'll likely work primarily as a setup option ahead of Tanner Scott. Rotowire.com 45 minutes ago
