    • Cardinals officially activate Contreras off the IL
Cardinals activated C Willson Contreras (forearm) off the 10-day IL.

Advice: It was a quick turnaround for Contreras who had surgery back in early May to repair a fractured left forearm when he was hit by J.D. Martinez’s swing. We should expect the Cardinals to ease Contreras in during the first couple of weeks with an extra day off or two, but his bat will be a welcome addition to the Cardinals’ lineup and fantasy lineups as well. Nick Raposo has been optioned to Triple-A Memphis in a corresponding move. Rotoworld Monday, 12:43 pm
    • Returns from injured list
The Cardinals activated Contreras (forearm) from the 10-day injured list Monday. He'll start at catcher and bat third in the Cardinals' series opener versus Atlanta.

Advice: Contreras was initially expected to miss around 10 weeks after he suffered a fractured left forearm in early May, but he'll make it back from the IL in just six and a half weeks. The Cardinals could manage Contreras' workload carefully as he settles back in with the big club, but fantasy managers should feel free to activate ahead of this week's action. Contreras posted a .950 OPS with six home runs over 31 games before getting injured. Rotowire.com Monday, 12:40 pm
    • Expected back Monday
Contreras (forearm) is expected to be activated from the 10-day injured list ahead of Monday's game versus Atlanta, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Contreras has played six rehab games with Triple-A Memphis, catching three games and serving as the designated hitter in three others. He's gone just 3-for-21 at the plate in those contests, but the Cardinals are more concerned with how he's feeling and reports on that are favorable. Contreras was initially supposed to be out until around the All-Star break when he fractured his left forearm in early May but will beat that timetable by a few weeks. Rotowire.com Monday, 6:45 am
    • Luis Campusano (thumb) lands on 10-day IL
Padres placed C Luis Campusano on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to June 21, with a left thumb contusion.

Advice: The Padres don’t expect him to miss longer than the minimum time on the injured list, but since he wasn’t going to be ready for at least another couple of days they opted to bring up Brett Sullivan to help them out behind the plate. Expect Sullivan to share the load with Kyle Higashioka while Campusano is sidelined. Rotoworld Jun 22, 2:55 pm

    • Hitting injured list
Campusano (thumb) was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday but isn't expected to miss more than the minimum amount of time, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports

Advice: Campusano was scratched ahead of Friday's 9-5 win over the Brewers and held out of Saturday's 6-4 win with left thumb soreness before the Padres placed him on the IL. Brett Sullivan was called up from Triple-A El Paso take Campusano's place on the active roster, but Kyle Higashioka should get most of the work behind the plate while Campusano is out. • Absent from starting nine
Campusano (thumb) is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against Milwaukee.

Advice: Campusano was scratched from Friday's lineup with soreness in his left thumb and will remain on the bench to begin Saturday's game. Kyle Higashioka will be behind the plate and bat ninth. Rotowire.com Jun 22, 1:13 pm

    • Luis Campusano (thumb) absent from Padres lineup
Luis Campusano (thumb) is absent from the Padres’ starting lineup on Saturday.

Advice: Campusano was scratched from the team’s starting lineup on Friday night due to the same issue. It doesn’t sound like he’ll require a trip to the injured list, but may need another day or two before he’s ready to return. Kyle Higashioka will draw another start behind the dish and will bat ninth against Carlos Rodriguez and the Brewers on Saturday evening in San Diego. Rotoworld Jun 22, 1:12 pm

    • Willson Contreras (forearm) could return on Monday
The Athletic’s Katie Woo reports Willson Contreras (forearm) could return as early as Monday’s series opener against the Braves.

Advice: Contreras is slated to get into a pair of rehab contests this weekend for Triple-A Memphis with the aim of returning early next week. The 32-year-old backstop has been on the shelf since undergoing surgery back in early May to repair a fractured left forearm. Barring something unexpected, he should return early next week, which would be a significant development for the Cardinals, and fantasy managers as well. Rotoworld Jun 22, 10:10 am
    • Luis Campusano (thumb) considered day-to-day
Luis Campusano was scratched from the Padres’ starting lineup on Friday night due to a left thumb contusion.

Advice: Fortunately, the injury isn’t believed to be serious, and the 25-year-old backstop is considered day-to-day. Kyle Higashioka is starting in his place behind the dish on Friday night and will carry the load until Campusano is ready to return. Rotoworld Jun 21, 3:58 pm
