• Chris Paddack ineffective again against A’s
Chris Paddack picked up no decision Friday against the A’s after being charged for three runs in 4 2/3 innings.

Advice: Paddack gave up five hits, and he also had issues with control as seen in three walks and 52-of-82 pitches landing for strikes. I’s a better outing then Sunday’s struggles against the Athletics, but that’s not saying much since he gave up five runs in 2 1/3 innings in that start. The 28-year-old now has an unhealthy 5.28 ERA on the season, and he’ll try and get on track against the Diamondbacks next week. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:08 pm

  • Lackluster start in Colorado
Herz allowed four runs (three earned) on seven hits over 3.2 innings in a no-decision Friday. He struck out five during the win over the Rockies.

Advice: All four runs against Herz came on three homers as he stumbled in his first appearance at Coors Field. Entering Friday's start, he'd given up only one long ball through 14.1 innings to begin his MLB career. Herz fired a 13-strikeout quality start against Miami on June 15 but has totaled just 12 innings in his other three outings. He's sporting a 4.50 ERA with a strong 26:5 K:BB through 18 innings. Herz is currently in line for a start in San Diego next week. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:47 pm
  • Hammered for eight runs
Hudson (2-10) allowed eight runs on 11 hits and two walks over three-plus innings while taking a loss against the Nationals on Friday.

Advice: Hudson kept Washington scoreless for two innings before an ugly five-run third inning. The Nationals piled on four more runs in the fourth, with three of them being charged to Hudson. He's lost three straight starts while posting a 7.20 ERA during that stretch, bumping his season ERA to 5.63 through 76.2 frames. Friday's performance was his shortest outing of the year and the most runs he's allowed in a start. Hudson's next matchup is expected to be on the road against the White Sox. • DJ Herz gives up three homers in start vs. Rockies
DJ Herz didn’t factor into the decision after allowing four runs — three earned — in 3 2/3 innings against the Rockies.

Advice: Herz was able to strike out five in the start, which is good. He also gave up seven hits with three of them homers, which is not. The left-hander was dominant against the Marlins with 13 punchouts Saturday, but while the swing-and-miss ability was still apparent, the lack of ideal command was as well. He’s a very risky starter against the Padres next week. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:41 pm
  • Dakota Hudson roughed up for eight runs
Dakota Hudson allowed eight runs in just three innings while picking up a loss to the Nationals on Friday.

Advice: Not ideal. Hudson allowed 11 hits in the loss — two of those homers — and he didn’t pick up a single strikeout. The 29-year-old has mostly been effective in 2024, and he’s earned his 2-10 record over the first half of 2024. The only good news for Hudson going forward is his next start comes against the White Sox. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:41 pm

  • Patrick Sandoval exits game with forearm tightness
Patrick Sandoval was removed from Friday night’s start against the Dodgers in the third inning due to left forearm tightness.

Advice: Sandoval delivered a pitch to Shohei Ohtani and immediately knew something was wrong and signaled for the training staff. He’ll almost assuredly undergo an MRI exam to determine the severity of the issue, but it’s likely that a lengthy stint on the injury list is upcoming. The Angels should have a better idea of his status on Saturday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:34 pm
  • Dealing with forearm issue
Sandoval exited Friday's start against the Dodgers with left forearm tightness.

Advice: Sandoval was pulled abruptly in the third inning after issuing a walk to Shohei Ohtani. A timeline for Sandoval's return isn't available, but it would come as a significant surprise if he doesn't land on the injured list. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:30 pm
  • Tosses five frames
Singer yielded a run on three hits and two walks over five innings in a no-decision Friday. He struck out four during the loss to Texas.

Advice: Singer turned in three scoreless frames before Wyatt Langford knocked an RBI double in the fourth inning. It was the only damage against Singer through five innings, but the Royals bullpen would go on to allow five runs in the sixth and cost him a win. It was his first start without allowing a homer since May 19; in his previous four outings, he was taken deep six times, resulting in a 5.31 ERA. Singer lowered his season ERA to 3.29 with an 80:25 K:BB through 82 frames. He's currently in line for a home start against the Marlins next week. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:19 pm
  • Patrick Sandoval leaves game with apparent injury
Patrick Sandoval was pulled from Friday night’s start against the Dodgers in the third inning due to an apparent arm injury.

Advice: The 27-year-old southpaw delivered a pitch to walk Shohei Ohtani, then immediately called for the training staff to come out to the mound — knowing something was wrong with his arm. He’ll head for further evaluation to determine exactly what’s going on there, but it would be shocking if it didn’t require a trip to the injured list at a minimum. Sandoval allowed two hits and two walks over his 2 1/3 innings of scoreless baseball before the injury. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:11 pm
