• Slated for rehab assignment
Javier (neck) will begin a rehab assignment over the weekend, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Manager Joe Espada didn't specify exactly when Javier's first rehab appearance will be, nor did he say how long the 27-year-old right-hander will remain in the minors. However, there had been speculation that Javier would be able to avoid a rehab assignment completely, so he may only need to make one start before returning to an Astros rotation that has already dealt with numerous injuries this season. • Edward Cabrera whiffs nine, allows four vs. Rockies
Edward Cabrera allowed four runs in four innings while fanning nine against the Rockies on Thursday.

Advice: Cabrera pitched better than this line suggests, but a three-run homer by Jacob Stallings turned a strong outing into a mediocre one. The right-hander did have command issues, however, as he walked four and threw 56-of-91 pitches for strikes. Still, an encouraging outing that showed off the 26-year-old’s swing-and-miss potential. He still shouldn’t be used next week against the Dodgers. Rotoworld 21 minutes ago

  • Mitchell Parker allows three runs in loss to Rangers
Mitchell Parker allowed three runs over 5 1/3 innings on Thursday in a loss to the Rangers.

Advice: Parker got into trouble in the third inning when he gave up a trio of run-scoring hits, which accounted for all of the damage against him. He struck out five and only issued a pair of walks. The 24-year-old rookie right-hander has allowed three earned runs or fewer in four consecutive outings since getting the call to the majors back on April 15, but he’s struggled to work deep into contests. He’ll bring a respectable 2.53 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 19/4 K/BB ratio across 21 1/3 innings (four starts) into a tough home outing on Wednesday against the Orioles. Rotoworld 34 minutes ago

  • Solid in season debut
Bradish did not factor into the decision Thursday against the Yankees, allowing one run on four hits and two walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out five.

Advice: Bradish had to contend with some traffic Thursday, though he'd ultimately hold the Yankees to one run on Anthony Rizzo's two-out RBI single in the third inning. Overall, it was an encouraging debut from Bradish after he'd missed the first month of the season with a partially torn UCL -- he averaged 95 MPH with his sinker while inducing six whiffs on his slider, both in line with his numbers from last year. It remains to be seen if the Orioles will allow Bradish to work deeper into the game in his next start. He's currently scheduled for a road matchup with the Nationals. Rotowire.com 36 minutes ago

  • Kyle Bradish allows one over 4 2/3 in season debut
Kyle Bradish went 4 2/3 innings while allowing one run on four hits in his start against the Yankees on Thursday.

Advice: Bradish was making his season debut after missing the first month of the year due to his elbow ailment, and while he wasn’t able to get the needed outs to qualify for the win, it’s fair to call this a successful outing. The 27-year-old allowed four hits and two walks, but he was able to fan five while landing 51-of-84 pitches for strikes. Bradish will get a chance to work deeper in a friendly matchup against the Nationals next week. Rotoworld 39 minutes ago

  • Carlos Rodón struggles, allows three HRs in loss
Carlos Rodón allowed seven runs — six earned — in four innings while picking up a loss Thursday to the Orioles.

Advice: Rodón gave up three homers in the loss, and he also allowed eight hits. No walks and no strikeouts, but it’s tough to take much solace in those numbers because see above. The left-hander was excellent in his previous two starts, but the ever-so-tough Baltimore lineup was one he wasn’t up to the task against, at least that was the case for Thursday. He’ll have a chance to rebound next week against Houston. Rotoworld 39 minutes ago
