    • Hits fifth homer
Arcia went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a double in Tuesday's 4-3 extra-inning loss to the Cubs.

Advice: Arcia opened the scoring with his second-inning blast off Chicago starter Javier Assad. This was Arcia's first multi-hit effort since May 8 -- he's gone 9-for-44 (.205) with three homers, three doubles and five RBI over his last 12 contests. The shortstop is slashing .247/.273/.416 with five homers, 17 RBI, 19 runs scored, 13 doubles and no stolen bases over 176 plate appearances in a starting role this season. • Walks four in no-decision
Morton allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits and four walks while striking out eight over five innings in a no-decision versus the Cubs on Tuesday.

Advice: Morton's last two starts have been against the Cubs, and they've managed to give him some control issues -- he walked seven batters over eight innings in those games. Tuesday's road outing was better than his start last Wednesday in Atlanta, but it still doesn't inspire a ton of confidence. The veteran right-hander is now at a 3.35 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 52:21 K:BB over 51 innings through nine starts this season. Morton's next start is projected to be at home versus the Nationals. • Javier Assad walks five, gets lifted in fifth
Javier Assad yielded three runs — two earned — in 4 2/3 innings Tuesday against the Braves.

Advice: This really should have been worse, considering that Assad gave up two homers and walked five batters. Still, his ERA remained intact at 1.70, and though he left with the Cubs down by a run, he avoided taking what would have been his first loss in 10 starts this year. He’ll make his next start in St. Louis on Sunday. Rotoworld 49 minutes ago

    • Charlie Morton fans eight in no-decision
Charlie Morton was uninvolved in the decision against the Cubs on Tuesday after allowing two runs — one earned — in five innings against the Cubs.

Advice: Morton matched his season high with eight strikeouts. In the entire history of MLB, only Nolan Ryan (five times), Randy Johnson, Roger Clemens and Orlando Hernández have managed to strike out at least a batter an inning at age 40 or over (min. 130 innings). Morton, with 52 Ks in 51 IP to date, has a chance to join the club. Rotoworld 49 minutes ago

    • Takes step back Tuesday
Assad allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits and five walks while striking out four over 4.2 innings in a no-decision versus Atlanta on Tuesday.

Advice: Assad gave up a two-run home run to Orlando Arcia in the second inning and a solo shot to Michael Harris in the fourth. The five walks were also a season high, and it was the fourth time this season Assad has issued three or more free passes. For the season, he's at a 1.70 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 46:20 K:BB through 53 innings across 10 starts. He's had little trouble with the long ball this year, so it's safe to assume he'll continue to find success in run prevention if he can keep the ball down. The right-hander is projected for a road start in St. Louis his next time out. Rotowire.com 53 minutes ago

    • Oneil Cruz sets Statcast record on 3 hits in win
Oneil Cruz went 3-for-5 with one RBI in a win over the Giants on Tuesday.

Advice: All three of Cruz’s hits were blasted with a 121.5 mph double, a 120.4 mph single, and a 116.3 mph double. He’s now the first player in the Statcast era to have three hits in one game over 115 mph, and his 121.5 mph double is the hardest-hit ball in MLB action this year, topping the 120.4 mph single he hit earlier in the game today. That’s quite a performance. Cruz is 19-for-64 (.297) in May with four home runs, 10 runs scored, and 11 RBI. He does have 18 strikeouts in 16 games, but his production has certainly started to tick up and if stolen bases follow, we could see a full breakout. Rotoworld Today, 7:24 pm

    • Sean Murphy (oblique) homers in rehab contest
Sean Murphy (oblique) homered on Tuesday in a minor league rehab game for Triple-A Gwinnett.

Advice: Murphy caught seven innings behind the plate and also threw out a runner attempting to steal second base in this one. The 29-year-old backstop looked ready to return to the majors in this one, but he’ll presumably get at least a couple more contests under his belt before heading back to Atlanta. • Back in action
Bryant (back) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list ahead of Tuesday's game in Oakland, Patrick Lyons of JustBaseball.com reports.

Advice: Bryant returns to the lineup for the Rockies on Tuesday, starting at first base and batting fifth. The 32-year-old landed on the injured list April 17 with a lower back strain. The veteran was slashing only .149/.273/.255 over 13 games before getting injured. With his return to the lineup, Sean Bouchard has been optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque. Rotowire.com Today, 2:25 pm

    • Rockies activate Kris Bryant for Tuesday return
Rockies activated INF/OF Kris Bryant from the 10-day injured list.

Advice: Bryant returns to Colorado’s roster ahead of Tuesday’s showdown against the Athletics following a one-month absence due to a lower back strain. The 32-year-old has gotten off to an abysmal start at the dish this season, batting .149 (7-for-47) with one homer and zero steals in 13 games. He’s gradually faded into irrelevancy for fantasy purposes over the last few years with the Rockies. Rotoworld Today, 2:23 pm
