      Advice: Chourio would surely be back in the minors at this point if he hadn’t signed a long-term deal this spring, but it’s not like he’s embarrassing himself with a .229/.280/.365 line as a 20-year-old in a season in which offense has been hard to come by.       Castillo (6-7) allowed two runs on four hits and a walk while striking out seven over six innings to earn the win over the Rangers on Friday.

      Advice: Castillo received an extra day of rest after Emerson Hancock got a spot start in Thursday's series finale versus the White Sox. It looks like that was a good move, as Castillo was able to bounce back from his worst start of the year to earn his third quality start in his last four outings. The right-hander limited the Rangers' offense to the first inning, when he gave up both runs and three of the four hits on his line. Castillo is now at a 3.32 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 92:24 K:BB over 89.1 innings through 15 starts. He's projected for a challenging road matchup versus the Guardians next week.       Andrew McCutchen hit a homer and scored two runs in a 5-2 win for the Pirates over the Rockies on Friday.

      Advice: McCutchen is now up to nine homers with his solo shot off Ryan Feltner; one of three homers the Bucs hit against Feltner in the contest. The 37-year-old outfielder also doubled for the sixth time in 2024. It’s a far cry from his MVP status a few years ago, but the pair of extra-base hits improves his slash to a respectable — if modest — .239/.339/.394 over the first 69 games of the campaign.       Luis Castillo struck out seven after six innings of two-run baseball against the Rangers on Friday while picking up a win.

      Advice: Castillo scuffled in the first inning, allowing a pair of RBI singles. After that, the right-hander was excellent while keeping the Rangers off the board over the next five frames. The six strong innings see him lower his ERA on the campaign to 3.32 with a 92/24 K/BB. Castillo’s next chance to pitch is scheduled for Thursday against the Guardians in Cleveland.       Advice: Pederson collected his fourth steal, marking the most he's had in a season since 2017 (his career-high is six, set in 2016). The veteran lefty bat flashed his power too, tattooing a 425-foot solo homer off Michael Soroka in the seventh for the Diamondbacks' final run of the evening. The 32-year-old Pederson has found new life in Arizona, slashing .291/.387/.521 over 197 plate appearances with nine homers, 24 runs scored and 30 RBI this season.       Joc Pederson went 2-for-4 with a homer, stolen base, two RBI and two runs scored in a 7-1 blowout win over the White Sox on Friday.

      Advice: Pederson’s homer is the ninth of the year, and the steal is the fourth for the 32-year-old in 2024. The veteran outfielder also drove in a run on a fielder’s choice. Pederson has been excellent as of late, and he’s now homered in back-to-back games. If the Diamondbacks fall out of this, he’s a strong candidate to be dealt before the deadline.       McCutchen went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and two runs scored in Friday's 5-2 win over Colorado.

      Advice: McCutchen crushed a mammoth 448-foot solo homer of Ryan Feltner in the sixth inning to give the Pirates a lead they never relinquished. The 37-year-old veteran later tallied another run to his register when a Bryan Reynolds single drove him home in the eighth.       Bryon Buxton went 1-for-4 and smacked an RBI triple on Friday night, helping to lead the Twins past the Athletics in extra innings.

      Advice: Buxton got the Twins on the board with his run-scoring triple off of Mitch Spence in the second inning, trimming their deficit to three runs at 4-1. That would be his only hit on the evening.       Jhoan Duran picked up his second victory of the season on Friday evening, working two scoreless innings against the Athletics.

      Advice: Duran came on to work the top half of the ninth inning in a tied game and kept the A’s off the board. He then returned for the 10th inning and retired the side in order, setting the stage for Max Kepler’s heroics.
