• Day off Saturday
Bichette is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's contest against the Guardians, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Advice: Bichette will get a rare breather Saturday, taking a seat after he went 3-for-18 with an RBI and a run scored over the last five games, three of which he failed to record a hit in. Isiah Kiner-Falefa will slide over to shortstop while Addison Barger enters the lineup at third base and bats seventh versus Cleveland. Rotowire.com Today, 8:27 am

  • Experiencing general tightness
Smith was not in the starting lineup Friday due to what manager Bruce Bochy referred to as "general tightness," Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Advice: It's the same condition that led to Smith being held out of Tuesday's starting lineup. He eventually entered Friday's game as a pinch hitter, popping out in the ninth inning. With Corey Seager not playing the field yet as he battles a hamstring, Ezequiel Duran started at shortstop. Rotowire.com Today, 6:04 am

  • Enmanuel Valdez plates lone run in loss to Yankees
Enmanuel Valdez doubled and drove in the Red Sox’ lone run in Friday night’s loss to the Yankees.

Advice: The 25-year-old infielder smacked an RBI double off of the center field wall off of Luis Gil in the fourth inning, pulling the Red Sox to within two runs at 3-1. That would be as close as they would get. He also drew a walk in the contest, finishing the night 1-for-2. On the season, Valdez is hitting just .203/.246/.407 with five homers and 23 RBI. • Exits with illness
Caballero was removed from Friday's game against Atlanta due to an illness, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports.

Advice: Richie Palacios replaced the 27-year-old infielder at second base during the third inning. Caballero is slashing .241/.333/.483 across 33 plate appearances since the beginning of June and will continue to rest as he fights off his sickness. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:28 pm

  • Jose Caballero leaves game with illness Friday
Jose Caballero was removed from Friday’s battle against the Braves in the fourth inning due to illness.

Advice: Most observers raised an eyebrow when Caballero was replaced by Richie Palacios in the ballgame, but it turns out he was simply feeling a bit under the weather. He’s considered day-to-day and should return to the Rays’ lineup at some point before the weekend is through. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:24 pm

  • Sitting Friday
Smith is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Mariners.

Advice: Smith will begin Friday's series opener in the dugout after starting in the last two games, going 4-for-7. He's been one of the Rangers' hottest hitters in June, slashing .368/.429/.526 with seven runs, one home run and two RBI. Ezequiel Duran and Davis Wendzel will start at shortstop and third base, respectively, against Mariners right-hander Luis Castillo. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:06 pm

  • Return might come Monday
Turner (hamstring) could be activated from the 10-day injured list Sunday or Monday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Advice: While the Phillies have been vague about a timeline for Turner's return, Gelb notes that the shortstop ran again Friday, and while he'll maybe" return Sunday, it will "probably" happen Monday instead, as Philadelphia begins a six-game homestand. Turner has been shelved since early May with a left hamstring strain, and it's looking like he'll skip a rehab assignment. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:57 pm

  • Moves up in batting order
Hamilton batted second and went 1-for-5 with a stolen base, an RBI and a run scored in Thursday's 9-3 win over Philadelphia.

Advice: Hamilton's good stretch of hitting led to him batting second for the second consecutive game against a right-hander, and the shortstop extended his hit streak to five games. Since mid-May, when manager Alex Cora started giving him regular run in the starting lineup, Hamilton has slashed .341/.378/.553 with 11 extra-base hits, nine RBI, 14 runs and 10 steals over 26 contests. • Stays at shortstop
Smith started at shortstop and went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored in Thursday's 3-1 win over the Dodgers.

Advice: Smith made another start at shortstop, as the Rangers are being careful with Corey Seager (hamstring). Seager had returned to action Wednesday, serving as the DH, and was originally in Thursday's starting lineup at DH before being scratched. Smith continued to be a surprising contributor for the Rangers; he's gone 19-for-53 (.358) with six extra-base hits, two steals, four RBI and 10 runs scored over the last 15 games.
