• Likely to start Wednesday
Montero is expected to start Wednesday's game against the Phillies, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Advice: While the Tigers haven't announced anything yet, they are listing Wednesday's starter as TBD and Montero was spotted in the clubhouse at Comerica Park on Tuesday. Mason Englert is expected to be optioned to Triple-A Toledo in a corresponding move. Montero, 23, allowed four runs in 4.1 innings in his major-league debut versus the Pirates last month. It would appear Wednesday's appearance will be another spot start for the righty and he'll head back to Toledo after the game. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:16 pm
  • Could take Lodolo's spot
Ashcraft is a candidate to be called up from Triple-A Louisville to start in place of Nick Lodolo (blister), who was placed on the 15-day injured list Tuesday, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Advice: Ashcraft has turned in consecutive quality starts since his demotion to Louisville, yielding a total of four runs with a 12:2 K:BB over 12 innings. He's currently slated to start Wednesday for Louisville, but the Reds don't have a starter listed for that day. Lodolo isn't eligible to return until July 9, so Ashcraft would likely be needed for multiple starts if he's indeed the choice. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:49 am
  • Summoned to majors
The Reds recalled Zulueta from Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday.

Advice: It's the first major-league promotion for Zulueta, who holds a 2.84 ERA with 40 strikeouts over 31.2 innings this season at Louisville. The 26-year-old also posted a 14.5 percent walk rate at Louisville, so he'll have to show he can consistently find the strike zone before the Reds trust him in high-leverage situations. • Reds recall Zulueta from Triple-A Louisville
Reds recalled RHP Yosver Zulueta from Triple-A Louisville.

Advice: Zulueta will have a chance to make his MLB debut if/when he makes an appearance. The 26-year-old right-hander has a 2.93 ERA for Louisville with 39 strikeouts over 30 2/3 innings, but he’s also walked 20 in that timeframe. He’ll be a mid-to-late inning option for Cincinnati. • Ready for MLB debut
The Reds are expected to recall Zulueta from Triple-A Louisville prior to Tuesday's game against the Pirates, sources tell Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com.

Advice: Once a top pitching prospect in the Blue Jays system, Zulueta's development was sidetracked by Tommy John surgery in 2019 and a right knee injury that kept him out for most of the 2021 season. He was cast off the Blue Jays' 40-man roster in March and was scooped up by the Reds, who optioned him to Louisville coming out of spring training. The 26-year-old righty has thrived out of the Triple-A bullpen this season, riding an upper-90s fastball and plus slider to a 2.84 ERA and 40 punchouts over 31.2 innings. Zulueta has exhibited some control problems both this season (14.5 percent walk rate) and throughout his minor-league career, so the Reds may be inclined to deploy him in lower-leverage spots initially. • Returns to mound Sunday
Nunez (nose) allowed two runs on two hits and struck out one in a one-inning relief appearance during Sunday's 5-2 win over the Cubs.

Advice: Nunez had not pitched since June 15 due to a sinus infection, and he wasn't very sharp after a whole week off. The right-hander served up a two-run home run to Christopher Morel, but that was all the Cubs could muster. Nunez has a 2.89 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 27:4 K:BB over 18.2 innings this season, and he's added four holds while occasionally seeing high-leverage assignments. Rotowire.com Sunday, 8:08 pm
  • Beginning assignment Tuesday
Muller (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Muller has been sidelined since the end of May due to tendinitis in his left shoulder, but he has now been given the go-ahead to test his shoulder in a game setting. The A's haven't specified how long they plan on keeping the 26-year-old in the minors, but he will likely require multiple rehab outings after being held out of action for nearly a month. • Battling sinus infection
Nunez hasn't pitched since June 15, and Mets manager Carlos Mendoza indicated earlier this week that the right-hander was dealing with a sinus infection, SNY reports.

Advice: After bouncing between Triple-A and the big-league roster in April and May, Nunez settled in following his latest promotion and is having a breakout campaign in the Mets' bullpen, posting a 2.04 ERA, 0.74 WHIP and 26:3 K:BB through 17.2 innings while generating a 42.2 percent whiff rate with his slider. The 28-year-old has four holds on the season, all of which have come in his last six appearances as he works his way into a high-leverage role. Once he's recovered from the infection, Nunez could emerge as a top set-up man for closer Edwin Diaz. Rotowire.com Sunday, 12:03 pm
  • Completes third rehab outing
Hall (knee) struck out one and allowed one hit and two walks over 1.1 innings in his latest rehab outing Thursday with Triple-A Nashville.

Advice: Hall has now made three starts for Nashville since resuming his rehab assignment June 13, but he has yet to cover more than two innings or throw more than 36 pitches in any of those outings. His usage would seem to hint that the Brewers envision Hall filling a multi-inning relief role upon his return from the 60-day injured list, after he struggled through four starts with Milwaukee (7.71 ERA, 2.27 WHIP in 16.1 innings) before being shut down April 21 with a left knee sprain.
