• Lands on IL with elbow injury
The Blue Jays placed Garcia on the 15-day injured list Monday due to right elbow ulnar neuritis.

Advice: Garcia was forced out of his save chance in Sunday's 7-6 win over Cleveland after experiencing right elbow soreness. The MRI after Sunday's game showed no structural damage to Garcia's right elbow, but it did reveal ulnar nerve symptoms, per Hazel Mae of Sportsnet. While there was optimism that Garcia would be day-to-day with the injury, he will now be on the shelf until at least the beginning of July. With Jordan Romano (elbow) still on the IL, Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Monday that Chad Green will operate as the interim closer for Toronto, per Mae. Rotowire.com Today, 3:10 pm

  • Asymptomatic but still shut down
Weathers (finger) is asymptomatic but has yet to resume a throwing program, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The left-hander has been out since early June with a left index finger strain. Weathers will be reevaluated early next week, so while he is feeling better, it appears he won't be cleared to throw for at least another week. He'll need to ramp things back up at that point, so a return before the end of June looks to be out of the question. Rotowire.com Today, 3:04 pm

  • Set for re-evaluation soon
Reds manager David Bell said Friday that Gibaut (forearm) is scheduled to meet with a doctor soon before the next step in his rehab process is decided, MLB.com reports.

Advice: If Gibaut gets clearance to resume baseball activities upon meeting with the doctor, Bell noted that the right-hander could be cleared to return from the 60-day injured list in as soon as six weeks. Gibaut had been shut down all season with a right forearm strain before undergoing anterior interosseous nerve release surgery May 9. Rotowire.com Today, 3:02 pm

  • Designated for assignment
The Angels designated Suarez for assignment Monday.

Advice: Suarez looked like he was going to be a solid mid-rotation starter for the Angels when he posted a 3.86 ERA and 188:69 K:BB over 207.1 innings from 2021-22. It's been tough sledding since then, though, with an 8.22 ERA over 29 appearances (eight starts). He also missed a large chunk of 2023 with shoulder problems. Still, as a 26-year-old that's shown promise in the past, there might be interest in Suarez via trade or waivers. Rotowire.com Today, 2:51 pm

  • Angels bring Zach Plesac back to majors
Angels selected the contract of RHP Zach Plesac from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Advice: Plesac’s 5.42 ERA and 51/26 K/BB ratio in 74 2/3 innings for Salt Lake don’t bode well for a successful return to the majors here. Still, he can eat innings, and the Angels might have some need for that this week. Rotoworld Today, 2:48 pm

  • Angels designate José Suarez for assignment
Angels designated LHP José Suarez for assignment,

Advice: It was pretty obvious this was coming after Suarez gave up five runs in an inning Sunday against the Giants. It left the 26-year-old with an 8.15 ERA in 35 1/3 innings this season and an 8.22 ERA in 69 innings since the beginning of last year. He was pretty good between 2021 and ’22 (16-16, 3.86 ERA, 188/69 K/BB in 207 1/3 IP), and another franchise might have more luck with him. Rotoworld Today, 2:48 pm

  • Contract selected by Halos
The Angels selected the contract of Plesac on Monday.

Advice: After being designated for assignment by the Angels on April 8, Plesac stayed with the organization in Triple-A after passing through waivers. Across 13 starts with Triple-A Salt Lake, Plesac holds a 3-7 record with a 5.42 ERA and 1.43 WHIP. However, over his last two starts, he's given up two runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out 11 over 15.1 innings. With Chase Silseth (elbow) close to returning from the 60-day IL, Plesac will likely operate out of the Angels' bullpen after right-hander Jose Suarez was designated for assignment in a corresponding move. • Back to Double-A
The Rockies optioned Chivilli to Double-A Hartford on Monday.

Advice: Chivilli received his second big-league call-up of the season June 3, and over his five appearances in the majors, he gave up five runs on eight hits while striking out two over 5.1 innings. He was sent back to Double-A to clear room on the 26-man active roster and in the bullpen for right-hander Jake Bird (elbow), who was reinstated from the 15-day injured list. • Lands on IL with shoulder strain
The Rockies placed Rogers on the 15-day injured list Monday with a left rotator cuff strain.

Advice: Over his five major-league appearances this season, the 29-year-old southpaw registered a 6.75 ERA and 1.50 WHIP over 9.1 innings. With Rogers going on the IL and Angel Chivilli getting optioned to Double-A Hartford, the Rockies filled the open spots in the bullpen by activating Justin Lawrence (shoulder) and Jake Bird (elbow) from the IL.
