• Jordan Romano gives up run, earns save anyway
Jordan Romano picked up his fifth save despite allowing a run on three hits in the ninth Wednesday against the Phillies.

Advice: Romano entered with a three-run lead. The Phillies had the tying run on second with one out, but Romano was facing the right part of the lineup at that point and got both Kody Clemens and Whit Merrifield to pop up to end the game. It’s the fourth time in eight appearances that Romano has allowed a run, but he’s never given up more than one and he’s converted all of his save chances. Rotoworld 34 minutes ago
  • Shifted to 60-day IL
The Mariners transferred Brash (elbow) to the 60-day injured list Wednesday.

Advice: The transaction frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for Kirby Snead. Brash's status remains unclear following a setback with his right elbow a couple weeks ago, but he now won't be eligible to return until late May. Rotowire.com 38 minutes ago

  • Out with hyperextended knee
The Mariners placed Saucedo on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with a hyperextended right knee.

Advice: Saucedo suffered the injury during Tuesday's game against the Twins while running to cover first base. It would appear he has avoided a serious injury, but it's not clear how long the reliever might be on the shelf. Rotowire.com 42 minutes ago

  • Hangs on for fifth save
Romano earned the save in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Phillies despite allowing one run on three hits in the ninth inning.

Advice: Tasked with protecting a three-run lead in the ninth, Romano allowed a run on a Bryson Stott double. However, he managed to strand the tying runs on second and third, inducing a pair of popouts, to lock down his fifth save of the year. While Romano is a perfect 5-for-5 in save chances, things haven't come easy of late -- he's now allowed a run and multiple hits in back-to-back appearances. Overall, the 31-year-old right-hander sports a 4.70 ERA with a 1.43 WHIP and 6:2 K:BB through his first 7.2 innings this season. Rotowire.com 45 minutes ago
  • Returns from IL
The Mariners activated Bazardo (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list Wednesday.

Advice: Bazardo has been out all season with a right rotator cuff strain but is ready to go after allowing two runs with a 7:1 K:BB over 5.1 rehab innings. He will occupy a middle relief role. Rotowire.com 47 minutes ago
  • James McArthur gets two out save Wednesday vs Brewers
James McArthur converted a two-out save on Wednesday against the Brewers.

Advice: McArthur was summoned to record the final two outs in the ninth inning after Tyler Duffey gave up an RBI double to Brice Turang that put the potential tying runs in scoring position with only one out in the frame. He got William Contreras and Christian Yelich to both ground out harmlessly to put out the fire and preserve Kansas City’s victory. The 27-year-old righty has converted eight saves to go along with a 4.15 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 18/3 K/BB ratio across 17 1/3 innings (15 appearances). Rotoworld 47 minutes ago
  • Undergoes MRI on knee
Topa underwent an MRI on his left knee after feeling soreness following his last rehab appearance with Triple-A St. Paul on Sunday, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Advice: Topa was able to throw a bullpen session Wednesday, so it would appear to be a minor setback. However, the reliever is still awaiting results of the MRI before determining the next steps. Topa had been poised to be activated soon before this bump in the road. Rotowire.com 52 minutes ago

  • Alex Lange takes loss in 10th to Guardians
After the Tigers failed to score in the top of the inning, Alex Lange took a loss in the 10th against the Guardians on Wednesday.

Advice: The Tigers really mixed things up relief-wise in this one, turning to Jason Foley for two outs in the seventh and Joey Wentz for four outs through the eighth. Wentz allowed an unearned run, narrowing Detroit’s lead to one, and Andrew Chafin, given a rare chance to close, made that go away by giving up a homer to David Fry. Lange went on to get the final out of the ninth. In the 10th, he got an out on a sac bunt and then gave up the winning single. While Foley remains the favorite for saves in Detroit, it looks like this is going to be a frustrating situation going forward. Rotoworld Today, 1:37 pm
  • Placed on IL
The Rays placed Pepiot on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with a left lower leg contusion.

Advice: The transaction is retroactive to Monday, so Pepiot could be activated as soon as May 21 if he makes a speedy recovery from the leg injury, which he suffered when he was hit by a line drive in Sunday's 7-6 extra-inning win over the Mets. Taj Bradley (pectoral) was reinstated from the 15-day IL in a corresponding move and will be plugged into Pepiot's spot in the rotation beginning with Friday's game against the Yankees.
