    • In line for start Wednesday
Martinez is listed as the Reds' probable starter for Wednesday's game against the Padres in Cincinnati.

Advice: After Nick Lodolo (groin) went on the injured list, Martinez stepped into the vacant rotation spot last week in Los Angeles. He was deployed in bulk relief behind opener Brent Suter in last Thursday's 7-2 win, tossing five shutout innings while allowing one hit and no walks. Barring a late change of plans from manager David Bell, Martinez looks poised to operate as a traditional starter Wednesday, and he should have a higher innings ceiling as a result. • Steals, scores in win
Hamilton started at second base and went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Monday's 5-0 win over Tampa.

Advice: Hamilton made his fourth start in the last six games and has hit safely in five straight. Once a forgotten man on the roster -- he started just 12 times and had 50 plate appearances over 35 games after being called up April 6 -- Hamilton is 6-for-15 with four extra-base hits with three runs and three RBI during the hit streak. Vaughn Grissom (.135) has yet to establish himself as the everyday second baseman, so there is an opportunity for Hamilton to become fantasy relevant. Rotowire.com Today, 3:53 am
    • Homers in win
Rafaela went 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI in Monday's 5-0 win over the Rays.

Advice: Rafaela's two-run shot in the fifth inning was his fifth of the season and snapped an 0-for-16 skid. There have been several skids for Rafaela during his first full season in the majors; the 23-year-old is batting just .195 through 47 games. Rotowire.com Today, 3:38 am
    • Will need MiLB games
Thomas (hamstring) will require minor-league rehab games before rejoining the Diamondbacks, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Thomas had been on the verge of returning earlier this month but felt something in his injured left hamstring after a rehab game at Triple-A Reno on May 5. He has since received a platelet-rich plasma injection and begun ramping up again -- running in a pool and taking live at-bats. Thomas made 13 plate appearances over three games during his first rehab assignment, which may be a barometer for how much time the outfielder needs on a second rehab stint. • Homers for team's only run
Nido went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Monday's loss to the Guardians.

Advice: Nido accounted for New York's only run of the contest with a 405-foot solo shot in the third inning. The long ball was his second of the campaign and first since April 26. Nido is batting .241 on the season but has gone 9-for-30 (.300 average) over his past 10 games. Rotowire.com Today, 12:11 am
    • Knocks in two runs Monday
Fry went 1-for-2 with a walk, a stolen base and two RBI in Monday's 3-1 win against the Mets.

Advice: Fry plated two of Cleveland's three runs with a single in the first inning. He has been swinging a hot bat in May, slashing .353/.488/.647 with three homers, seven RBI and 10 runs along with an 8:8 BB:K over 43 plate appearances. Fry also has a stolen base in each of his past two games after swiping just one bag across his first 30 games this season. Rotowire.com Today, 12:08 am

    • Solid in return
Megill (0-2) took the loss against Cleveland on Monday, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits and two walks while striking out seven batters over five innings.

Advice: Megill made his first big-league start since exiting his season debut March 31 with a right shoulder strain. He had a nearly full workload with 86 pitches and allowed just four hits over five frames, but three of them came consecutively in the first inning, resulting in a pair of runs. Though that was enough to saddle him with the loss, this was a promising return for Megill, who should settle into New York's rotation moving forward after racking up a career-high 25 starts and 126.1 innings last year. • Fans seven in victory
Lively (3-2) earned the win over the Mets on Monday, allowing one run on six hits and no walks while striking out seven batters over 5.2 innings.

Advice: The only run Lively allowed in the outing came via a Tomas Nido solo homer in the third inning. Lively was otherwise excellent, matching a season high with seven punchouts and falling one out shy of recording a quality start. The right-hander is in the midst of the best season of his career, posting a 2.84 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 38:12 K:BB over 38 innings. Prior to this season Lively owned a 5.05 ERA across 208.2 career frames. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:53 pm

    • Raps out three hits
Newman went 3-for-4 with a double, one RBI and one run scored in Monday's 6-4 loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: Newman has five multi-hit efforts over his last nine games, going 15-for-31 (.484) in that span. The shortstop still isn't hitting for a lot of power, but he's been able to make decent contact. For the season, he has a .276/.311/.439 slash line with two home runs, 11 RBI, 13 runs scored, a stolen base, eight doubles and a triple over 103 plate appearances. Newman should continue to handle the starting job at shortstop at least until Geraldo Perdomo (knee) is able to return, likely in early June. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:39 pm
