    • Miguel Sanó (knee) begins rehab assignment
Miguel Sanó (knee) will begin a minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday.

Advice: The 31-year-old slugger has been shelved with a knee issue since the start of May. It’s unclear how long he’ll need before he’s an option to return to the Angels’ lineup. Before landing on the injured list, Sanó had hit .262/.352/.361 with a homer, five RBI and a 27/8 K/BB ratio in 71 plate appearances with the Halos. Rotoworld 3 minutes ago

    • Angels activate and option Sam Bachman on Friday
Angels activated RHP Sam Bachman from the 60-day injured list and optioned him to Double-A Rocket City.

Advice: The 24-year-old hurler has already been stationed at Double-A Rocket City on his minor league rehab assignment, but he’ll remain there while he continues to build back up following a lengthy stint on the injured list. Bachman is working his way back from offseason shoulder surgery. Rotoworld 5 minutes ago
    • Jordan Wicks (oblique) expected to land on IL
Cubs’ manager Craig Counsell admitted after Friday’s loss to the Cardinals that Jordan Wicks will likely land on the 15-day injured list with the oblique strain that he suffered on Friday.

Advice: Wicks was pulled from his outing against the Cardinals after just 1 2/3 innings after sustaining the injury. Kyle Hendricks did a nice job in relief of him on Friday and he seems like the most logical candidate to replace Wicks in the Cubs’ rotation. As always, he makes for an unappealing option for fantasy purposes. Rotoworld 11 minutes ago

    • IL stint likely
Cubs manager Craig Counsell said after Friday's 3-0 loss to the Cardinals that Wicks will get an MRI for his right oblique and that a stint on the injured list is "likely," Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Advice: Wicks was lifted from Friday's game after just 1.2 innings due to right oblique discomfort. He was previously on the injured list due to a left forearm strain that kept him out of action for nearly six weeks. Wicks made two appearances since being activated off the IL on June 7, including Friday's start. Kyle Hendricks came in to replace Wicks on Friday, and the former figures to enter the Cubs' rotation due to the latter's injury. Rotowire.com 12 minutes ago

    • One more rehab start needed
Freeland (elbow) allowed one run on three hits and a walk with four strikeouts during a start at Triple-A Albuquerque on Thursday. He'll likely require one more rehab start at Albuquerque before joining the Rockies, Luke Zahlmann of The Denver Gazette reports.

Advice: Freeland made his second rehab appearance Thursday, but it was his first at the Triple-A level. The lone run attributed to Freeland came on a solo homer. Still the left-hander is expected to appear in one more rehab game before returning to the Rockies toward the end of June. Rotowire.com 13 minutes ago

    • Idle against RHP
McKinstry is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Houston.

Advice: McKinstry will give way to the righty-hitting Ryan Kreidler at shortstop Friday despite right-hander Hunter Brown on the mound for the Astros. It'll be Kreidler's third start since Javier Baez (back) got injured, while McKinstry has only had two starts during that stretch. Rotowire.com 19 minutes ago

    • Kyle Hendricks goes 4 1/3 scoreless in relief
Kyle Hendricks pitched 4 1/3 scoreless innings after replacing an injured Jordan Wicks in the second Friday against the Cardinals.

Advice: Hendricks struck out just one, but he walked none and allowed only one hard-hit ball. One imagines Wicks will join Ben Brown on the IL tomorrow, likely resulting in Hendricks’ return to the rotation. That doesn’t make him a fantasy option, but it wouldn’t be surprising if he does a better job of holding his own this time around. Rotoworld 19 minutes ago
    • Pedro Pagés hits first major league home run
Pedro Pagés hit his first big-league homer Friday against the Cubs.

Advice: In the top of the eighth, Pagés hit a ball to left at 102.5 mph with a 32-degree launch angle and got it just into the basket over Ian Happ’s outstretched glove. 10 minutes later, Patrick Wisdom hit a ball to the same area at 111.0 mph with a 33-degree launch angle and somehow came up just short. Pagés’ homer came in his 39th career plate appearance. He’s batting .125 while splitting time with Iván Herrera behind the plate for the Cardinals. Rotoworld 20 minutes ago

    • Tossing live BP on Monday
Ferrer (shoulder) will throw live batting practice Monday, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: Ferrer will face batters for the first time since suffering a shoulder strain back in March. If all goes well Monday, the logical next step would be a rehab assignment. The 24-year-old should be expected to return in late June or early July. Rotowire.com 30 minutes ago
