    • José Berríos goes six in defeating White Sox
      José Berríos defeated the White Sox by allowing three runs in six innings on Monday.

      Advice: Three things worked in favor of Berríos on a day in which he was lacking his best stuff: he was facing the White Sox, he had CB Bucknor working his own special brand of magic behind the plate and he was facing the White Sox.     • Another quality start in in victory
      Berrios (5-3) earned the win Monday against the White Sox, allowing three runs on eight hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out six.

      Advice: With the 100-pitch effort, Berrios collected his first win since April 20 and second consecutive quality start. The Blue Jays right-hander has posted an impressive eight quality starts in 10 total games started. Berrios owns a 2.98 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 48:18 K:BB in 60.1 innings this season.     • Triceps tightness keeps Senga from mound session
      Kodai Senga did not throw his scheduled bullpen session Monday because of triceps tightness.

      Advice: Senga isn’t being shut down; the Mets are still hoping to have him on the mound later this week. All of these little setbacks he’s having as he tries to return from a shoulder injury are very concerning, and it doesn’t really seem like he’s someone to count on at this point.       Senga (shoulder) did not throw a scheduled bullpen session Sunday due to right triceps tightness, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

      Advice: Senga had seemingly been making good progress recently as he works his way back from a right posterior shoulder capsule strain, but he's now encountered another speed bump. The hope is that he'll be ready to throw off the mound later this week, but the Mets will likely wait until the right-hander is pain-free before he resumes a throwing program.     • Efficient in earning second win
      Pivetta (2-2) earned the win Sunday, allowing one run on one hit over six innings against the Cardinals. He struck out eight.

      Advice: A fourth-inning solo homer by Lars Nootbaar was the only blemish against Pivetta, who needed just 72 pitches to retire 18 of the 19 batters he faced. It was the second consecutive start for Pivetta with eight punchouts, as he's struck out 16 over 11.2 innings while allowing only three runs during that stretch. However, it should be noted that all three runs were scored by way of the long ball, and Pivetta has now allowed six homers, including five of the solo variety, over his last three appearances. Pivetta will look to carry the momentum into his next start, tentatively slated to take place next weekend when the Red Sox welcome the Brewers into Fenway for a three-game set.     • Nick Pivetta fans eight in defeating Cardinals
      Nick Pivetta limited the Cardinals to one run and one hit over six innings in Boston’s 11-3 win Sunday.

      Advice: The one hit was a 441-foot homer from Lars Nootbaar, but Pivetta retired every other batter he faced, striking out eight of them. He struggled in his first start back from the IL, but he has a 3.04 ERA and a 30/2 K/BB ratio through five outings this year. He’ll get the Brewers next. Rotoworld Sunday, 1:28 pm
       
    • Fires second straight quality start
      Gore allowed two runs on three hits and three walks while striking out three batters over 6.1 innings in a no-decision against Philadelphia on Saturday.

      Advice: Gore carried a one-run lead into the seventh inning but was pulled after Bryson Stott tagged him for a one-out, game-tying solo homer. Despite that disappointing exit, this was a positive overall outing for the lefty hurler, and he's now fired back-to-back quality starts for the first time this season. Gore didn't have the strikeout stuff Saturday that he had his previous time out when he fanned nine Red Sox batters over six frames, but Gore did established a season-high mark with his 6.1 frames.       MacKenzie Gore allowed two earned runs and struck out three in 6 1/3 innings and got a no-decision against the Phillies on Saturday.



      Advice: Gore hasn’t allowed more than three earned runs in a start all season, but he only has two wins to show for it. He lowered his ERA to 3.30 with this outing. The 25-year-old left-hander gets a better matchup in his next game as he’s scheduled to face the Mariners at home next weekend.

      Advice: Senga remains in a bit of a holding pattern with his recovery from a right shoulder issue as he continues to work on his mechanics.
