    • Willi Castro with three hits in loss
Willi Castro went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored in a loss to the Royals on Wednesday night.

Advice: The Twins struggled to sustain offense against Seth Lugo and the Royals’ bullpen as Castro was the only member of the lineup with multiple hits. He hadn’t recorded a base knock in four games and has a .258 batting average with four home runs and seven stolen bases on the season. Rotoworld Wednesday, 7:16 pm

    • Jackson Merrill returns to lineup after day off
Jackson Merrill is back in center field Wednesday after getting the day off against a lefty on Tuesday.

Advice: The Padres are again facing a lefty, but Merrill has been starting against most of them, even though he’s hitting just .233/.261/.233 in 46 plate appearances against them. He’s also 7-for-35 with no extra-base hits or walks in his last eight games overall. Rotoworld Wednesday, 10:25 am
    • Jake Cronenworth goes 0-for-4 versus Marlins
Jake Cronenworth went 0-for-4 on Tuesday, leaving him 12-for-56 in his last 15 games.

Advice: Given his obvious decline in 2022 and ’23, Cronenworth was a very nice surprise to begin this year, batting .285/.349/.503 in his first 39 games. He’s slumped the last two weeks, but his exit velocity numbers are still encouraging enough to suggest that he’ll snap out of this and remain rather productive. Rotoworld Tuesday, 9:13 pm

    • Getting breather versus lefty
Merrill isn't in the Padres' lineup Tuesday against the Marlins.

Advice: The left-handed bat of Merrill will step out of the lineup Tuesday as the Marlins prepare to send Jesus Luzardo to the mound. Jose Azocar will fill the void in center field and bat eighth while Merrill sits. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 3:21 pm
    • Cronenworth has double, RBI against Marlins Monday
Jake Cronenworth went 1-for-3 with a walk, a double and an RBI against the Marlins on Monday.

Advice: Cronenworth’s bases-loaded walk in the seventh inning was the difference in the Padres’ 2-1 victory over the Marlins. He continues to play second base after the Padres’ trade for Luis Arraez. Cronenworth’s average is up to .271 and his OPS is up to .806, both of which would be career-highs. • Climbs above .200 again
Rafaela went 2-for-3 with a double, a stolen base and a run scored in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Brewers.

Advice: Rafaela's eighth-inning double put him in position to score the winning run. He has multiple hits in two straight games and has gone 7-for-22 (.318) over the last six. That's pushed his batting average to .208, the third time he's climbed above the Mendoza Line this season. Rafaela is a bit of conundrum. He leads the Red Sox in RBI (28) and is fifth in extra-base hits (16), but he's not exactly a good hitter. Boston manager Alex Cora told Alex Speier of The Boston Globe that Rafaela has "big moves" in his swing as he tries to hit for power -- how he loads the swing, the leg kick and the swing itself. For long-term success, Cora believes Rafaela needs to shorten his swing. Rotowire.com May 27, 5:45 am

    • Trea Turner ‘pulled back’ on rehab due to soreness
Phillies manager Rob Thomson told reporters that Trea Turner (hamstring) is dealing with soreness and he’ll be “pulled back” on his rehab.

Advice: “How long, I don’t know,” Thomson said. “I’m not really concerned at this point.” Turner is working his way back from his left hamstring strain, and he ran at a higher intensity Saturday as he attempts to make a quicker return than anticipated. It’s concerning to see, but it’s also possible this is just precautionary. A rehab assignment will assuredly be needed before he can return. Rotoworld May 26, 10:15 am

    • Trea Turner runs at higher intensity on Saturday
Trea Turner (hamstring) was able to run at a higher intensity on Saturday as he continues to work his way back from a left hamstring strain.

Advice: If he feels alright on Sunday, he could soon progress to actually running on the bases. He’ll still need to take swings against live pitching and play in at least some simulated games before he’ll be ready to rejoin the Phillies’ lineup, but he continues to make much quicker progress than originally anticipated. • Runs at higher intensity Saturday
Phillies manager Rob Thomson said that Turner (hamstring) ran at a higher intensity Saturday, Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

Advice: Turner could progress to running the bases as soon as the Phillies' series in San Francisco against the Giants which begins Monday. He will need to complete that step and also see live pitching before being cleared to begin a rehab assignment, but rehab games wouldn't seem to be too terribly far off if he continues moving in the right direction.
