    • Collects two thefts Thursday
Hamilton went 1-for-5 with a walk, an RBI, two runs and two stolen bases against the Marlins in Thursday's 6-5 extra-innings victory.

Advice: Hamilton scored Boston's first two runs of the contest, then collected a go-ahead RBI on a groundout in the 12th frame. The infielder also recorded two swipes of third base, moving him up to fourth in MLB with 23 stolen bases (on 24 attempts) on the season. Though Hamilton has seen his playing time dry up a bit of late, he has continued to produce fairly well. Despite hitting just .200 over his past 35 at-bats, he's recorded a home run, five RBI, eight runs and nine stolen bases during that stretch. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:09 pm

    • Surrenders four runs in defeat
Bassitt (7-7) took the loss against Houston on Thursday, allowing four runs on eight hits and four walks while striking out three batters over five innings.

Advice: Bassitt got off to a terrible start in allowing six of the first seven batters he faced to reach base, resulting in three Astros runs. The veteran hurler bounced back to give up just one more run over the remainder of his five frames, but the first-inning damage was enough to send him to his seventh loss of the season. Bassitt had been rolling coming into Thursday, posting a 1.41 ERA across his previous five starts, and the four runs he yielded against Houston were his most since he gave up seven runs against the Dodgers on April 26. Bassitt's overall numbers this season have been pretty much in line with what fantasy managers have come to expect from him -- he has a 3.43 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 94:41 K:BB across 102.1 frames. • Records save on Independence Day
Hader earned a save against the Blue Jays on Thursday, allowing one hit in one scoreless inning.

Advice: Hader entered in the ninth inning with Houston holding a two-run lead and immediately allowed a single to bring the tying run to the plate. However, he then induced a double play -- Toronto's fifth double play of the contest -- and needed just nine pitches overall to nail down his 14th save. Despite the successful outing, Hader snapped an eight-game streak of appearances with at least one punchout. He had posted a 14:1 K:BB across eight frames during that stretch. • David Hamilton steals two bags in victory over MIA
David Hamilton stole two bases while scoring twice and driving in a run in a victory over the Marlins in 12 innings on Thursday.

Advice: Hamilton went 1-for-5 in the contest with the walk. The speedy 26-year-old has provided plenty of thefts for the Red Sox and fantasy managers — and himself, of course, he should take pride in his work — and he’s now up to 23 of them in just 57 games. That’s certainly his best category, but Hamilton hasn’t been useless in others with a .267/.317/.418 slash over 165 at-bats. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:56 pm

    • Josh Hader works around hit to pick up save
Josh Hader allowed a hit but no runs while picking up a save Thursday against the Blue Jays.

Advice: Hader gave up the hit, but worked around it while picking up his 14th save for the surging Astros. The left-hander needed just nine pitches to get through the inning, and six of those went for strikes. There’s every reason to believe Hader will be one of the best closers in baseball during the second half of the 2024 campaign. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:52 pm
    • Chris Bassitt allows four to Astros over five
Chris Bassitt went five innings while allowing four runs in a loss to the Astros on Thursday.

Advice: Bassitt, 35, gave up eight hits, walked four and struck out three. Most of the damage was done early, as he gave up three runs in the first inning before settling down. The right-hander had allowed just three total earned runs over his last two starts, so it goes without saying this outing — while not horrific — didn’t keep that good run going. His final start before the break is scheduled Wednesday against the Giants in San Francisco. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:52 pm
    • Slugs 19th homer Wednesday
Hernandez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to Arizona on Wednesday.

Advice: The Dodgers scored all their runs in the first inning, and their final tally came on Hernandez's solo shot. The long ball was his 19th of the campaign, putting the veteran outfielder one home run away from reaching the 20-homer mark for the sixth straight full season (he hit 16 during the pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign). Hernandez is on pace to challenge his career-best marks of 32 home runs and 116 RBI, which he established with Toronto in 2021. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:35 am
    • Not starting Thursday
Mountcastle isn't in the Orioles' lineup for Thursday's game versus Seattle.

Advice: Mountcastle went 1-for-4 with an RBI during his first game back from an illness Wednesday, and he'll now get another day to rest against Bryce Miller and the Mariners. Ryan O'Hearn will move to first base as a result, allowing Heston Kjerstad to serve as the DH. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:15 am
    • Return before break not ruled out
Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Thursday that Realmuto (knee) is working out at 70-to-75 percent intensity, Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

Advice: Realmuto is three weeks removed from right meniscus surgery and is progressing nicely. The club is not ruling out a return for their starting catcher prior to the All-Star break if he proves to be ready by then, but it's probably more likely that Realmuto is held out until the start of the second half.
