Jones (knee) began a new rehab assignment with Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Jones originally landed on the injured list April 30 with a back issue, but he then injured his knee during his original rehab assignment. It's now the latter issue that is keeping him sidelined, though he played with Albuquerque on Sunday and went 0-for-2 with a walk while also being hit with a pitch and serving as the designated hitter. • Luis Arraez (shoulder) hopeful to play Monday
Luis Arraez (shoulder) told reporters after Sunday’s game that he was fine and would be in the Padres’ lineup on Monday.

Advice: The 27-year-old wizard with the bat suffered a shoulder injury while sliding into second base in the fifth inning on Sunday. It looks like it’s only a minor issue though and not something that is going to keep Arraez out of action. Be sure to check the Padres’ lineup prior to Monday’s battle against the Diamondbacks, but if Arraez has his way he’ll be in there. Rotoworld 46 minutes ago

    • Nabs fifth steal
Vargas went 2-for-4 with a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base in Sunday's win over the Guardians.

Advice: Getting another start at shortstop in place of CJ Abrams (shoulder) and batting ninth, Vargas swiped his fifth bag of the season in a productive afternoon. Abrams could be back in the lineup as soon as Monday against the Mets, bumping Vargas back to the bench, but the veteran utility player has been effective when called upon this season, slashing .288/.368/.385 through 120 plate appearances. • Productive weekend series
Diaz went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI on Sunday against the Orioles.

Advice: Diaz had a strong weekend series thanks to some timely hits. Across the three games, he went just 3-for-11 but drove in four runs and also worked two free passes. Diaz has gone just 7-for-44 across his last 13 starts, though he's striking out at only a 10.6 percent clip in that span, meaning his numbers should start to tick back up. • Snaps out of slump
Tellez went 3-for-4 with a two-RBI double and two RBI singles during Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Blue Jays.

Advice: Tellez hadn't logged an RBI since May 5 and had driven in three batters since April 4. He bested that total just on Sunday, plating all four of the Pirates' runs and reaching safely in four of his five plate appearances. Prior to Sunday's contest, Tellez had generated four hits in 40 at-bats with one walk. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:11 pm
    • Homers in consecutive games
Schmitt went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 7-5 loss to the Yankees.

Advice: With Marco Luciano (hamstring) landing on the injured list Friday, Schmitt has a chance to make shortstop his own in June. This was Schmitt's second game in a row in the lineup -- he started versus right-hander Cody Poteet on Saturday and stayed in the starting nine versus southpaw Nestor Cortes on Sunday. Through eight games this season, Schmitt has two homers, five RBI and two runs scored over 30 plate appearances. Brett Wisely has also been an option at shortstop lately, and both Schmitt and Wisely offer utility upside if the Giants opt to get creative with their lineup decisions. • Snaps slump with homer
Burleson went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 5-4 extra-inning win over the Phillies.

Advice: Burleson entered Sunday 0-for-17 over his last four games. He ended the drought -- his longest of the season -- with a third-inning blast to put the Cardinals ahead 4-2. Burleson has been forced into a larger role with the Cardinals lacking several starters, including Lars Nootbaar (oblique), who is expected to be out for nearly all of June. Burleson is slashing .273/.302/.418 with six homers, 20 RBI, 15 runs scored and two stolen bases over 50 contests and should have a chance to continue playing on a near-everyday basis for the foreseeable future. • Delivers key hits Sunday
Gorman went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and a walk in Sunday's 5-4 extra-inning win over the Phillies.

Advice: Gorman opened the scoring with a two-run blast in the first inning and also provided the Cardinals with their winning run by adding an RBI single in the 10th. This was his fourth multi-hit effort over the last nine games, a span in which he's gone 11-for-32 (.344) with four homers and 10 RBI. He's up to a .223/.310/.457 slash line, 11 long balls, 28 RBI, 25 runs scored and two stolen bases through 51 contests. Gorman has been a near-everyday player lately, though the Cardinals called up Jose Fermin on Friday for infield depth, which could lead to Gorman sitting out against some southpaws moving forward. • Alec Burleson slugs two-run home run in loss
Alec Burleson slugged a two-run homer on Sunday night as the Cardinals rallied late to beat the Phillies in Philadelphia.

Advice: Burleson walloped a 405-foot (105.0 mph EV) two-run shot off of Taijuan Walker in the third inning that gave the Cardinals a 4-2 advantage. That would be his only hit in five at-bats on the evening. For the season, the 25-year-old slugger is slashing .273/.302/.418 to go with six long balls and 20 RBI. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:16 pm
