    • Homers in loss
Candelario went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 6-4 loss to San Diego.

Advice: Candelario and Stuart Fairchild each homered in the seventh inning, closing a four-run deficit to two. It was the second consecutive game with multiple hits for Candelario, who endured an 0-for-19 slump heading into the series against the Padres. He's hitting .189/.282/.378 with three homers and nine RBI through 103 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:14 am
    • Covers first base in win
Candelario started at first base and went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Monday's 5-2 win over the Padres.

Advice: Candelario filled in at first base for Christian Encarnacion-Strand (hand), who was available off the bench. His second-inning double put an end to an 0-for-19 skid, and he eventually scored on a balk. The slumping corner infielder has spent just two days this season with average of .200 or better. • Gets breather Saturday
Candelario isn't in the Reds' lineup for Saturday's game against the Rangers.

Advice: Candelario will get a chance to clear his head Saturday after going 0-for-15 with eight strikeouts across his last five games. Santiago Espinal will step in to cover third base instead while batting ninth. Rotowire.com Saturday, 10:18 am
    • Jeimer Candelario goes 0-for-4 in defeat
Jeimer Candelario finished 0-for-4 with three strikeouts against the Rangers on Friday.

Advice: Candelario would have been one to avoid in fantasy drafts this year if only he had signed with almost any other team. With the Reds, though, there was reason to think he’d maintain ample mixed-league value. Instead, his exit velocity numbers are way down and his strikeout rate is way up, making this a truly miserable April for the 30-year-old. It doesn’t seem likely that he’ll remain this bad, but he’s fortunate that the Noelvi Marte suspension and Matt McLain injury have left his playing time unchallenged. Rotoworld Friday, 11:22 pm
    • Lands on IL with rib fractures
Cubs manager Craig Counsell confirmed that Bellinger has been placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with right rib fractures, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Advice: Bellinger was removed from Tuesday's 7-2 win over the Astros with what the team had labeled as a right rib contusion, after initial X-rays had returned negative. However, after Bellinger was sent in for a CT scan earlier Wednesday, he was found to have suffered two fractures, and he'll now be forced to miss at least the next week and a half while he heals up from the injury, according to Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune. The Cubs called up Pete Crow-Armstrong from Triple-A Iowa in a corresponding move, and he could end up serving as the primary replacement for Bellinger in center field if Counsell wants to prioritize defense over offense. • Cubs place Cody Bellinger (rib) on IL
Cubs placed Cody Bellinger on the injured list with a rib fracture, according to manager Craig Counsell.

Advice: There isn’t a reported designation for Bellinger, but given it’s a rib fracture, fantasy managers can expect the 28-year-old to miss an extended period of time. X-rays were initially negative, but a CT scan on Wednesday morning revealed a fracture in his right rib after he collided into the centerfield wall against the Astros on Tuesday. • Cody Bellinger doing OK after wall collision
Cody Bellinger said after Tuesday’s game that he should be OK following his collision with the center-field wall.

Advice: X-rays were negative on Bellinger’s right ribs and he’s considered day-to-day with a contusion for now. It’s possible he’ll be ready to go Wednesday after going 1-for-3 with a two-run homer prior to exiting the late stages of Tuesday’s contest. “We’re going to have to check on the wall, see if the wall’s OK first and then be careful around it next time,” he said. • X-rays negative
X-rays on Bellinger's ribs came back negative Tuesday, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.

Advice: Manager Craig Counsell said Bellinger is still dealing with quite a bit of soreness, so the Cubs will wait to see how he feels Wednesday before determining any sort of return timeline. Alexander Canario entered Tuesday's game as Bellinger's replacement and could see extra reps in the outfield should the 2019 NL MVP have to miss time. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 8:02 pm

    • Bellinger homers, pushes hit streak to eight games
Cody Bellinger went 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI in the Cubs’ win over the Astros on Tuesday.

Advice: Bellinger sent his fifth homer of the season into the stands in the first inning, giving the Cubs an early 2-0 lead. Bellinger’s homer extended his hitting streak to eight games, as he’s also driven in a run in six straight contests. He’s not hitting for much of an average at this time, but we’d expect him to start tacking on more hits as he continues to heat up. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:54 pm
