      Dodgers manager Dave Roberts stated over the weekend that he may consider having Betts (wrist) play primarily at second base upon his return, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

      Advice: The consideration to shift Betts back to second base from shortstop is primarily due to the impressive performance of Miguel Rojas, who has played excellent defense, as usual, while adding a surprisingly potent bat (he's slashing .291/.337/.437 over 164 plate appearances). The versatile Betts is no stranger to second base; he played a career-high 70 games at the position last year after beginning the campaign in the outfield. Betts was then asked to move to shortstop ahead of 2024 despite never having logged time there in the majors prior to 2023, and he's performed adequately defensively despite a few hiccups. It remains to be seen if the Dodgers will ultimately pursue having Betts and Rojas form their middle infield for most games, and Roberts has time to think through that scenario since Betts remains several weeks away from returning.       Advice: Miller had last seen action Friday, so manager Mark Kotsay opted to give his closer some work in what started as a low-leverage scenario. The fireballing right-hander inherited a 7-3 advantage going into the ninth inning and proceeded to retire two of the first three hitters he faced, but he subsequently allowed an RBI double and single to Nolan Schanuel and Luis Rengifo, respectively, to tighten matters up. Miller bore down and retired Taylor Ward on four pitches to put an end to the threat and the game, but not before allowing multiple earned runs for the first time since May 23.       Advice: Melendez accounted for half of the Royals' hits in the loss. This was his second multi-hit effort in the last three games, but he went just 3-for-19 over a seven-game stretch prior to his recent rebound. The outfielder continues to struggle overall with a .191/.258/.366 slash line, eight home runs, 24 RBI, 21 runs scored and two stolen bases through 256 plate appearances in a strong-side platoon role.
