• Throws another bullpen Saturday
Miller (shoulder) threw a bullpen session Saturday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Miller is now expected to throw a three-inning simulated game within the next few days. Assuming all goes well, he will then embark on a minor-league rehab assignment. The Dodgers haven't said how long they plan on keeping Miller in the minors, but considering he has been on the shelf since April 13, he will likely need to make multiple starts in order to get back to a starter's workload. • Bobby Miller (shoulder) throws bullpen session
Bobby Miller (shoulder) threw a bullpen session at Dodger Stadium on Saturday afternoon without any issues.

Advice: Up next for Miller will be a three-inning simulated game, and if all goes well with that session he’ll finally progress to a minor league rehab assignment. Anticipate that he’ll need at least two starts in the minors before he’s an option to rejoin the Dodgers’ rotation — but he is taking tangible steps in that direction. Rotoworld 55 minutes ago

  • Zach Eflin surrenders four runs against Blue Jays
Zach Eflin allowed four runs with three strikeouts over six innings in a no-decision against the Blue Jays on Saturday.

Advice: Eflin had worked through three scoreless innings before the Blue Jays brought a run across to score on three hits in the fourth. Four consecutive hits to start the fifth inning would bring three more runs in for Toronto. Eflin would return for one more inning, ending his day after six with three strikeouts. The 30-year-old right-hander will take a 4.12 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and a 44/4 K/BB ratio across 59 innings into a start against the Royals in Tampa Bay on Friday. Rotoworld Today, 2:57 pm

  • Sharp in second win
Cortes (2-4) picked up the win in Friday's 4-2 victory over the White Sox, allowing one unearned run on five hits and a walk over seven innings. He struck out six.

Advice: An error by Oswaldo Cabrera in the third inning led to the only damage off Cortes, who tossed 63 of 93 pitches for strikes in his fifth quality start of the season. The southpaw has been effective when he's been able to keep the ball in the park, but he's served up multiple homers in three of his last seven outings, stumbling to a 6.06 ERA in those starts but not giving up an earned run in the other four. Cortes will take an overall 3.56 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 57:12 K:BB through 60.2 innings into his next trip to the mound, which is scheduled to come at home next week against the Mariners. • Quality start in no-decision
Paxton allowed three runs on seven hits and struck out two without walking a batter over six innings in a no-decision versus the Reds on Friday.

Advice: Paxton did fine, though he gave up solo home runs to Stuart Fairchild and Tyler Stephenson to account for two of the three runs on his line. After posting just one quality start over five outings in April, Paxton has settled in with three in a row to begin May. The southpaw has done well at run prevention this year with a 2.84 ERA despite a 1.38 WHIP and 24:24 K:BB through 44.1 innings over eight starts. He's projected to make his next start at home versus the Diamondbacks. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:52 pm

  • Paxton has Quality Start vs. Reds, but no-decision
James Paxton held the Reds to three runs over six innings but picked up no decision Friday.

Advice: The southpaw allowed seven hits, and while he didn’t issue a walk, he also only finished with a pair of strikeouts. The 35-year-old allowed a pair of homers in the game — both solo shots by Tyler Stephenson and Stuart Fairchild — and saw his ERA tick up to 2.84 despite picking up a Quality Start. Paxton has mostly looked the part in 2024, and while there are injury concerns and always will be, there’s plenty of reason to roster him in fantasy while he’s able to get on the bump. • Nestor Cortes strikes out six White Sox in win
Nestor Cortes worked seven innings without allowing an earned run in the Yankees 4-2 win over the White Sox on Friday. He struck out six, walked one, allowed five hits, and earned the win.

Advice: This was the fourth time this season that Cortes has completed at least seven innings. He’s been a reliable, steadying force in the Yankees’ rotation and looks to have bounced back fully after a poor 2023. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:11 pm

  • Scheduled for rehab assignment
Maeda (illness) will make a rehab start with Triple-A Toledo on Sunday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Advice: Maeda has been dealing with a viral illness that landed him on the IL on May 11. He began throwing off a mound Wednesday and will now progress to a rehab start, putting Maeda in line to return to the rotation May 24 against the Blue Jays. The 36-year-old right-hander is 1-1 in seven starts this season with a 6.75 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 23:10 K:BB over 30.2 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:30 pm

  • Kenta Maeda (illness) to make rehab start Sunday
Kenta Maeda (illness) will make a minor league rehab start at Triple-A Toledo on Sunday.

Advice: It remains unclear whether or not he’ll require any additional rehab outings after that first one to get back into the swing of things. Maeda has been disastrous in his first season with the Tigers so far, posting a 6.75 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and a 23/10 K/BB ratio across 30 2/3 innings through his first seven starts.
