• Braves coaches think Acuña needs a “detox”
According to Ken Suguira of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Braves gave Ronald Acuña Jr. the day off on Wednesday because they wanted him to “detox” as a way to break his slump.

Advice: Acuña’s batting average (.245), slugging percentage (.342), and home-run rate (one per 51.7 at-bats) are all beneath the single-season lows in his seven-year career, as the 26-year-old tries to follow up a historically good season. “You can just read their faces sometimes, and actions,” said Braves coach Brian Snitker. “And it’s like, ‘Well, it’s time.’ Kid needs a little breather here. He’s played every inning of every game. It’s not a bad thing to sit and watch sometimes.” Braves coaches, Eddie Pérez and Tom Goodwin, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that they believe that Acuña is pressing. “Sometimes, you force some things,” Goodwin said. Perhaps with a short break, Acuña will get back to the level everybody has seen him produce at before. Fantasy managers should clearly keep him in the lineup and hope he gets it going soon. • Looks ready to return
Johnson (elbow) said he felt good after throwing live batting practice Wednesday, and he's on track to come off the injured list ahead of Friday's game against the Padres, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Advice: The right-hander has been on the shelf since late April due to right elbow inflammation. Johnson has been an effective part of Atlanta's setup crew this season, recording two wins, a save and three holds in 13 appearances with a 3.00 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 16:5 K:BB through 12 innings. • Pierce Johnson (elbow) throws live BP Wednesday
Pierce Johnson (elbow) threw a live batting practice session on Wednesday without any issues.

Advice: It doesn’t sound like he’s going to require a minor league rehab assignment, so if the Braves felt good about how Wednesday’s session went, Johnson could return from the injured list on Friday. Before landing on the shelf with right elbow inflammation, he had posted a 3.00 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and a 16/5 K/BB ratio over 12 innings of work. Rotoworld Wednesday, 1:53 pm

  • Ronald Acuña Jr. not in Braves lineup on Wednesday
Ronald Acuña Jr. is not in the Braves’ starting lineup for Wednesday night’s showdown against the Cubs.

Advice: It looks to be nothing more than a routine day of rest for the 26-year-old superstar. Michael Harris II will move up to the leadoff spot in the Braves’ order while Adam Duvall will draw a rare start against a right-hander and will bat sixth against Javier Assad and the Cubs on Wednesday evening in Atlanta. • Gets first day off of season
Acuna is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Advice: Acuna is on the bench for the series finale, but his absence doesn't appear to be anything more than a much-needed maintenance day after he had started in right field in each of Atlanta's first 39 games of the season. Adam Duvall will step in as the starting right fielder in place of Acuna, who is in the midst of a cool stretch at the plate with just four hits in 31 at-bats over his last eight starts. • Luis Arraez not in Padres’ lineup on Wednesday
Luis Arraez is not in the Padres’ starting lineup for Wednesday’s tilt against the Rockies.

Advice: It looks to be nothing more than a routine day of rest for the two-time defending batting champion. Manny Machado will function as the team’s designated hitter on Wednesday while Donovan Solano will draw a start at third base and bat sixth against left-hander Austin Gomber and the Rockies. Jurickson Profar will slide up to the leadoff spot in the Padres’ lineup. Rotoworld Wednesday, 1:00 pm

  • Mitch Garver (back) likely available off bench

  • Out Wednesday with back spasms
Garver (back) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Advice: He'll remain on the bench for the second day in a row while he manages upper-back spasms. Mitch Haniger will get a day out of the outfield and serve as the Mariners' designated hitter while Garver rests up. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 11:05 am
