      Castillo (6-7) allowed two runs on four hits and a walk while striking out seven over six innings to earn the win over the Rangers on Friday.

      Advice: Castillo received an extra day of rest after Emerson Hancock got a spot start Thursday. It looks like that was a good move, as Castillo was able to bounce back from his worst start of the year to earn his third quality start in his last four outings. He is now at a 3.32 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 92:24 K:BB over 89.1 innings through 15 starts. He's projected for a challenging road matchup versus the Guardians next week.     • Ryne Stanek works around double for save
      Ryne Stanek allowed one hit and no runs while picking up a save Friday against the Rangers.

      Advice: Andres Munoz worked the eighth inning, so the Mariners turned to Stanek for the save chance. He did allow a double to Wyatt Langford, but he was able to work around it while procuring his sixth save of 2024.     • Luis Castillo holds Rangers to two runs over six
      Luis Castillo struck out seven after six innings of two-run baseball against the Rangers on Friday while picking up a win.

      Advice: Castillo scuffled in the first inning, allowing a pair of RBI singles. After that, the right-hander was excellent while keeping the Rangers off the board over the next five frames. The six strong innings see him lower his ERA on the campaign to 3.32 with a 92/24 K/BB. Castillo’s next chance to pitch is scheduled for Thursday against the Guardians in Cleveland.     • Edwin Díaz finally gets a save
      Edwin Díaz pitched a scoreless ninth inning for the Mets to earn the save on Friday against the Padres. He struck out two and stranded a runner on third base.

      Advice: Díaz and the Mets really needed this one. You could hear a pin drop in Citi Field when Jurickson Profar led off the inning with a single, but Díaz was able to work around it for his first save in 39 days. He also hit a true 100 MPH for the first time this season as he looks to get back into a groove as the Mets’ closer. Rotoworld Friday, 8:14 pm
       
    • J.D. Martinez doubles home two in win
      J.D. Martinez went 1-for-3 with a double, walk, and two RBI on Friday against the Padres.

      Advice: Martinez’s double was the extent of the Mets’ damage against Matt Waldron and offense in general on Friday. He’s now driven in the last four runs for the Mets going back to his walk-off home run on Thursday and is sporting an 18 game on-base streak. Rotoworld Friday, 8:13 pm
       
    • Jose Altuve doubles twice as Astros defeat Tigers
      Jose Altuve went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and a run scored on Friday evening, helping to lead the Astros past the Tigers.

      Advice: Altuve got a rally started with a leadoff double off of Tarik Skubal to begin the sixth inning. He then scored the game’s first run on Alex Bregman’s ensuing RBI triple. Altuve also drew a walk in the ballgame, reaching base safely in three of his four plate appearances. With his two-hit attack, the 34-year-old second baseman is now slashing an outstanding .298/.349/.453 to go along with 10 homers, 26 RBI and nine stolen bases on the season.       O'Hearn is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Phillies, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

      Advice: O'Hearn will avoid a matchup against southpaw Ranger Suarez on Friday, as Adley Rutschman fills in at DH and James McCann catches. O'Hearn is just 1-for-11 against lefties in 2024 and all nine of his home runs have come against right-handed pitching. Rotowire.com Friday, 12:03 pm

    • Nabs win in return
      Diaz (2-1) struck out one in a perfect ninth inning Thursday to pick up the win over the Marlins.

      Advice: The right-hander looked good in his first appearance since May 25, topping out at 99.6 mph with his fastball. Diaz had been on the IL with a shoulder impingement before being activated Thursday, but he hadn't been his usual dominant self even before getting shut down -- so far in 2024 he has a 16.7 percent whiff rate, one of the lowest marks of his career and a massive drop from the 25.2 percent rate he delivered in 2022. While his results were impressive Thursday, Diaz managed only two swinging strikes on 15 pitches, suggesting that he may not be fully back in form yet. Rotowire.com Friday, 8:49 am

      Arenado (hand) is starting at third base and batting cleanup Friday against the Cubs, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

      Advice: The 33-year-old had X-rays come back negative on his right hand after being hit by a pitch Thursday, and he's apparently fine given he's back in the lineup a day later.
