    • Resumes throwing
Poteet (triceps) has resumed his throwing program but has not yet progressed to throwing off a mound, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Poteet landed on the IL on June 18 due to a right triceps strain. It's an encouraging sign that the 29-year-old righty has gotten back to throwing, though he will likely remain without a clear return timeline until he's able to throw a few bullpen sessions. The return of Gerrit Cole also means there's no guarantee Poteet remains in the majors upon being activated. Rotowire.com 15 minutes ago

    • Unlikely to play in All-Star Game
Padres manager Mike Shildt said Friday that Tatis (quadriceps) isn't likely to be able to play in the All-Star Game, Bernie Wilson of the Associated Press reports.

Advice: Tatis was voted into the Midsummer Classic as a starter in the outfield alongside teammate Jurickson Profar, but it appears the former will need to sit out the contest. This isn't a surprising development, as Tatis had previously indicated that he could remain on the injured list until after the All-Star break. Tatis' election to the All-Star Game came as a result of a strong first half of the campaign during which he's slashed .279/.354/.468 with 14 homers, 36 RBI, 50 runs and eight stolen bases over 80 contests. • Nabs 16th steal
Chisholm went 2-for-4 with a walk and a stolen base in Friday's 3-2 loss to the White Sox.

Advice: For the second straight game, Chisholm reached base three times while swiping a base. The 26-year-old has been doing his job of late at the top of the order, slashing .315/.378/.397 over his last 21 games, but he's scored only seven runs over that stretch due to the overall struggles of the Miami offense. On the season, Chisholm is batting what would be a career-high .262 with 10 homers, 16 steals, 37 runs and 40 RBI in 85 contests. Rotowire.com Today, 7:44 am

    • Collects eighth save
Kopech gave up a run on two hits and a walk over 1.1 innings Friday to record his eighth save of the season in a 3-2 win over the Marlins. He struck out one.

Advice: With two on and two outs in the ninth inning, Kopech gave up an RBI single to Bryan De La Cruz, but he then got Josh Bell to ground out to escape the jam. Kopech isn't exactly locked in right now, stumbling to a 6.91 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and 19:7 K:BB over his last 14.1 innings while blowing three of six save chances, but the White Sox seem content to deploy him at the team's closer for now, perhaps in an effort to increase his trade value. • Brooks Lee batting ninth on Saturday vs. Astros
Brooks Lee is at designated hitter and batting ninth for Saturday’s game against the Astros.

Advice: Lee is batting .545 (6-for-11) with four RBI in three games since being called up earlier this week from Triple-A St. Paul. The 23-year-old top prospect figures to continue batting near the bottom of Minnesota’s suddenly formidable lineup as he acclimates to everyday life in the big leagues. However, that decision feels temporary, especially if he keeps producing at the dish. He should be rostered in all fantasy formats at this point. The big question for the remainder of the season is whether Lee sticks around once oft-injured offensive force Royce Lewis (groin) is ready to return after the All-Star break. • Max Fried can’t stop Phillies’ bats
Max Fried allowed 11 hits and five earned runs in six innings of work on Friday against the Phillies. He struck out four and walked one in a loss.

Advice: This was a pivotal game for the Braves as they try to claw their way back into the NL East race and Fried simply did not have it. He lived in the heart of the zone and the Phillies made him pay time and time again. They had base runners in five out of six innings and looked incredibly comfortable in the box all night. Fried was fortunate to get through this start with only five earned runs. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:48 pm

    • Coughs up five runs
Fried (7-4) allowed five runs on 11 hits and a walk over six innings Friday, striking out four and taking a loss against the Phillies.

Advice: Fried worked through three scoreless frames before beginning to unravel. He gave up three runs in the fourth inning and two more in the sixth. Of the five runs he allowed, four came via a pair of two-run shots from Trea Turner. Fried had given up just three runs over his previous three starts but saw his season ERA jump from 2.91 to 3.18 after Friday's hiccup. His next start is lined up to be in Arizona. • Michael Kopech slams door on Marlins on Friday
Michael Kopech slammed the door on the Marlins on Friday night, navigating a tumultuous ninth inning to preserve a one-run victory.

Advice: The 28-year-old hurler picked up his eighth save of the season for his efforts. As always, it wasn’t easy for Kopech, as he allowed a leadoff walk to Xavier Edwards to bring the tying run to the plate. He battled back though to get Vidal Brujan to bounce into a fielder’s choice and Nick Gordon on a called third strike before allowing a single to Jazz Chisholm Jr. and an RBI single to Bryan De La Cruz. Not to worry though, as he bore down to get Josh Bell on a ground ball to first base to end it. Kopech now sports a 4.58 ERA on the season to go with eight saves in 12 chances. • Not facing lefty
Kjerstad is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Athletics.

Advice: Kjerstad will take a seat Friday with southpaw Hogan Harris on the mound for Oakland. Austin Hays, Colton Cowser and Anthony Santander will fill the outfield from left to right. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:16 pm
