    • Emerson Hancock (back) could pitch Saturday
The Mariners are hopeful Triple-A Tacoma’s Emerson Hancock will be ready to pitch Saturday after leaving his last start due to back tightness.

Advice: If Hancock is OK, he might be needed as a replacement for the injured Bryan Woo this weekend, assuming that Woo needs some time off due to a hamstring injury. Jhonathan Diaz would be the alternative for the Mariners. Rotoworld Today, 6:35 pm
    • Nursing back issue
Hancock (back) was removed from his last start due to lower back tightness, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Advice: Hancock was expected to make his next appearance Saturday, but his status is currently in question. There's also a possibility that Seattle would promote Hancock to pitch against Minnesota over the weekend after Bryan Woo (hamstring) exited Monday's start early, but Hancock's health complicates the matter. The club will likely re-evaluate the right-hander over the next few days to determine his availability going forward. Rotowire.com Today, 6:34 pm
    • Cade Povich fans five in loss to Guardians
Cade Povich was charged with three runs over 5 2/3 innings on Monday in a loss to the Guardians.

Advice: Povich predictably couldn’t solve Guardians superstar José Ramírez, who tagged him for a run-scoring single in the opening frame, in addition to a go-ahead solo shot in the sixth inning, which was enough to saddle him with the loss in a low-scoring affair at Camden Yards. He struck out five and only issued one walk. The 24-year-old rookie southpaw has absolutely held his own so far in his first taste of the majors with a respectable 4.15 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 14/10 K/BB ratio across 21 2/3 innings (four starts) for Baltimore. He’ll lock horns with the defending World Series champion Rangers on Saturday in his next outing. He’s not exactly a recommended option for fantasy managers in shallow mixed leagues, but he’s definitely worth monitoring over the next few months. Rotoworld Today, 6:25 pm

    • Reporting to Triple-A
Hernandez was sent outright to Triple-A Nashville on Monday, per MLB's transaction log.

Advice: Hernandez was designated for assignment Wednesday following a rough outing against the Angels, surrendering two runs on two hits while striking out one and recording one out. He'll accept an assignment in Milwaukee's farm system after failing to draw interest on waivers. Rotowire.com Today, 6:24 pm

    • Rangers recall Cole Winn, place him on IL
Rangers placed RHP Cole Winn on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to June 18, with right shoulder sprain, voiding his option to Triple-A Round Rock.

Advice: Winn was sent down after pitching on back-to-back days June 16-17 and giving up four runs in three innings of work. He complained of the shoulder issue after reporting to Triple-A, and now he’ll collect major league service time while working his way back. Rotoworld Today, 6:11 pm

    • Placed on major-league 15-day IL
Winn was placed on the 15-day injured list Monday with right shoulder discomfort, retroactive to June 18, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Winn appears to have suffered the shoulder injury in his most recent appearance with the Rangers on June 17 against the Mets. He was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday, but that move is now void after his placement on the IL. Rotowire.com Today, 5:22 pm

    • Plays catch from 90 feet
Ohtani (elbow) played catch from 90 feet Monday, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Advice: It's the first time he's thrown from that distance since last September's Tommy John surgery. Ohtani continues to progress in his rehab with no issues, and he has certainly shown no ill effects at the plate as a result of the recovery. The Dodgers haven't ruled out the possibility of Ohtani playing the outfield at some point in 2024, although that still seems like a long shot. He will continue to serve as the club's designated hitter, with an eye on resuming two-way duties in 2025. Rotowire.com Today, 4:12 pm

    • Brewers outright Elieser Hernández to Triple-A
Brewers sent RHP Elieser Hernández outright to Triple-A Nashville.

Advice: Hernández cleared waivers after being DFA’d last week. He has a 6.32 ERA in 15 2/3 innings for the Dodgers and Brewers this season. Rotoworld Today, 3:59 pm

    • Demolishes 23rd homer
Ohtani went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's win over the Angels while also drawing a walk.

Advice: Ohtani jumped on a hanging slider from Zach Plesac in the third inning and launched it 459 feet into the stands in right-center field for his 23rd home run of the season. The superstar slugger has now homered in three consecutive games and has collected at least one RBI in seven straight. Over that latter stretch, he's batting .481 (13-for-27) with six homers, 13 RBI and 10 runs scored. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:15 am
