      Hader earned a save against the Yankees on Thursday, allowing one hit and striking out one batter over 1.1 scoreless innings.

      Advice: Hader was called upon with two outs and a runner on first with Houston protecting a one-run lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. He got Anthony Rizzo to pop out to end the frame, then completed the save with a scoreless ninth despite allowing a leadoff single. It was just the second time this season Hader was asked to get more than three outs, though he kept his workload relatively light by throwing 14 of his 18 pitches for strikes. The veteran closer's 5.63 ERA so far is well below his career standard, but he has converted four of his five save chances and has 25 punchouts over 16 frames.       Advice: Hader came on to record the final out of the eighth inning before heading back out to spin a scoreless ninth inning to collect his fourth save of the season. The 30-year-old lefty has converted four of five save chances in his Astros debut so far to go along with a bloated 5.63 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 25/7 K/BB ratio across 16 innings (16 appearances).       Duran earned the save in a win over the Mariners on Wednesday, pitching a perfect ninth inning while striking out one.

      Advice: Duran entered the game with a 6-3 lead in the top of the ninth and needed nine pitches to record the first out. The right-handed reliever then managed to work his way back from a 3-0 count to retire Jorge Polanco on strikes for the final out of the game. It marked Duran's third save of the season, and he's now pitched a perfect inning in back-to-back appearances. He's also yet to walk a batter or allow a run across five innings.       Jhoan Duran struck out one batter in a scoreless ninth inning for the save against the Mariners on Wednesday.

      Advice: After a pair of eighth-inning appearances, Duran got back to closing duties against the Mariners on Wednesday.       Astros manager Joe Espada said Wednesday that Pressly is managing lower-back soreness but that it's "nothing worrisome right now," Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

      Advice: The 35-year-old hasn't pitched since Friday due to the injury, and it's unclear if he'll be available for Wednesday's matchup with the Yankees.       Astros’ manager Joe Espada told reporters on Wednesday that Ryan Pressly hasn’t pitched since Friday due to soreness in his lower back.

      Advice: The 35-year-old hurler was able to play catch on Wednesday and felt alright afterwards, so the Astros remain optimistic that he won’t require a trip to the injured list.       Duran struck out two batters in a scoreless eighth inning and earned a hold during Monday's win over Seattle.

      Advice: Duran was called upon to face the Mariners' 9-1-2 hitters in a 3-1 contest. After earning a save in each of his first two appearances of 2024, he's picked up a hold in his last two games. Duran is the primary closing option in Minnesota but it appears there may be more of a committee than expected. Last season, he converted 27 of 32 saves and picked up only one hold.       Advice: Hader entered the game in the ninth inning with the score tied 4-4. He retired the first batter he faced but then served up the go-ahead homer to Cal Raleigh. Hader had turned in three consecutive appearances without giving up an earned run prior to Sunday, though he's now been charged with at least one run in six of his 15 appearances.       Josh Hader lost after giving up a go-ahead homer in a tie game Sunday against the Mariners.

      Advice: It’s the save situations in which Hader has struggled, but the loss today came after he was asked to preserve a tie. Cal Raleigh’s homer was the second surrendered by Hader in 14 2/3 innings this year.
