    • Solid vs. Cincinnati
Cecconi did not factor into the decision Thursday against the Reds, allowing one run on three hits and three walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out two.

Advice: Cecconi was sharp Thursday, blanking the Reds until Jeimer Candelario's solo home run in the fifth inning. It was a nice bounce-back outing from the 24-year-old right-hander after he gave up six runs in 4.1 innings in a loss to San Diego in his previous outing. Overall, Cecconi is 1-2 with a 4.15 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 17:6 K:BB through his first four starts (21.2 innings). He figures to remain in the rotation while Merrill Kelly (shoulder) and Eduardo Rodriguez (shoulder) are sidelined. Cecconi's currently in line for a home rematch with the Reds in his next outing. • Homer, stolen base in win
Pederson went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, a stolen base and an additional run scored in Thursday's 5-4 win over Cincinnati.

Advice: Pederson opened the scoring with a solo shot off Hunter Greene in the first inning, his fourth long ball of the year. Pederson had gone just 2-for-15 in four games coming into Thursday's contest. He's still slashing a solid .302/.415/.535 with 15 runs scored and eight RBI through 33 games this season as Arizona's primary DH against right-handed pitching. Rotowire.com 33 minutes ago

    • Daniel Duarte undergoes season-ending surgery
Daniel Duarte underwent season-ending right elbow surgery on Tuesday.

Advice: Duarte is expected to be sidelined for 14-16 months after undergoing UCL revision reconstruction surgery. The 27-year-old righty has a shot at making it back during the later stages of the 2025 campaign. Rotoworld 41 minutes ago

    • Ippei Mizuhara pleads guilty to multiple charges
Shohei Ohtani’s former interpreter, Ippei Mizuhara is pleading guilty to multiple charges including bank fraud and subscribing to a false tax return, according to the Associated Press.

Advice: Mizuhara has agreed to plead guilty to bank and tax fraud in a case where federal prosecutors allege he stole nearly $17 million from Ohtani to pay off sports gambling debts to an illegal bookmaking operation. Mizuhara will enter his guilty plea in the coming weeks and is set to be arraigned May 14, bringing an end to one of the more bizarre sagas in baseball history. Rotoworld 52 minutes ago

    • Ian Gibaut out indefinitely following arm surgery
Ian Gibaut underwent anterior interosseous nerve release surgery on his right arm on Thursday.

Advice: Reds manager David Bell declined to provide a return timetable for Gibaut, telling reporters that the hope is he’ll return at some point this season. There was some uncertainty surrounding the type of procedure the 30-year-old righty would wind up requiring and it ended up being the more invasive anterior nerve release procedure that carries a longer recovery timeline. • Begins rehab assignment
Urshela (hamstring) began a rehab assignment at Triple-A Toledo on Thursday.

Advice: Urshela has been on the injured list since April 20 due to a strained right hamstring, and he has now been given the go-ahead to test his hamstring in a competitive setting. It's unclear how long he will remain in the minors, but it's possible the Tigers wait to activate him Monday ahead of their upcoming series against the Marlins. Rotowire.com Today, 3:53 pm

    • Homers Thursday
Kepler went 2-for-4 with a home run, two total RBI and two total runs scored in Thursday's 11-1 win over the Mariners.

Advice: Kepler extended his hitting streak to 11 games -- he's recorded at least one hit in 15 of his last 16 contests, going 23-for-53 (.434) in that span. It's been quite a start to the year for the 31-year-old Kepler. He's now slashing .329/.390/.562 with three homers, 14 RBI and 11 runs scored through his first 21 games. Rotowire.com Today, 3:52 pm

    • Pirates summoning Nick Gonzales on Friday
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Andrew Destin reports the Pirates will promote infielder Nick Gonzalez on Friday.

Advice: Gonzales will get the call back to the majors after batting .358 (43-for-120) with four homers in 137 plate appearances over 30 games this season for Triple-A Indianapolis. The 24-year-old middle infielder got into 35 contests last year for Pittsburgh and simply has nothing left to prove in the upper minors at this juncture. Rotoworld Today, 3:49 pm

    • Nick Ahmed to undergo imaging on left wrist
Nick Ahmed will undergo additional imaging on his left wrist.

Advice: Ahmed was lifted from Thursday’s showdown against the Rockies with left wrist discomfort stemming from when he was hit by a 108-mph line drive back on April 27. It certainly sounds like a trip to the injured list to rest and recover could be in the cards for the 34-year-old defensive specialist. It would presumably be former top prospect Marco Luciano getting the call back to the majors if he winds up requiring an extended absence. Rotoworld Today, 3:46 pm
