    • Kodai Senga (shoulder) nearing rehab assignment
Kodai Senga (shoulder) is aiming to kick off a minor league rehab assignment next week.

Advice: Senga is scheduled to face hitters on Thursday in a live batting practice session, which will likely determine whether he’s ready to head out on an extended rehab assignment. The 31-year-old righty is going to require several rehab outings to build up his strength and stamina before making his season debut at some point after the All-Star break. • A’s designate journeyman Aaron Brooks for assignment
Athletics designated RHP Aaron Brooks for assignment.

Advice: Well, that was fast. Brooks latest stint with Oakland lasted roughly 48 hours as he allowed one run over five innings, throwing 65 pitches (41 strikes) on Monday in mop-up duty against the division-rival Angels. The 34-year-old righty figures to pass through waivers unclaimed and remain with the organization as emergency pitching depth. Rotoworld Today, 2:05 pm

    • M’s lose Bryan Woo to IL with hamstring strain
Mariners placed RHP Bryan Woo on the 15-day injured list with a right hamstring strain.

Advice: Woo has been phenomenal this season for Seattle, registering a microscopic 1.77 ERA, 0.69 WHIP and 28/3 K/BB ratio across 40 2/3 innings (eight starts), but has struggled to stay healthy. The 24-year-old righty was lifted from the fourth inning of Monday’s start against the Rays with a right hamstring tightness, and a subsequent MRI revealed a low-grade strain. He’s going to miss at least a couple weeks, even with this being arguably the best-case scenario outcome. Rotoworld Today, 1:38 pm

    • Lands on IL with strained hamstring
The Mariners placed Woo on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with a right hamstring strain, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.

Advice: It's being classified as a low-grade strain, so perhaps Woo has a chance to return when his 15 days are up or shortly after. Emerson Hancock would normally be the obvious candidate to step into the Mariners' rotation in Woo's place, but his status is unclear after he exited his last start at Triple-A Tacoma with lower-back tightness. Jhonathan Diaz, who's struggled at the big-league level this season (5.06 ERA, 1.88 WHIP) but has an 8-1 record and 3.26 ERA at Tacoma, is another candidate. Rotowire.com Today, 1:38 pm

    • Set to pitch Wednesday
Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said Tuesday that Montero will be called up to pitch Tuesday against the Phillies, though it hasn't been decided whether the right-hander will start or follow an opener, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The 23-year-old joined the Tigers ahead of Tuesday's contest and is set to make his second MLB appearance in Wednesday's series finale. Montero made his big-league debut in late May and surrendered four runs on five hits with five strikeouts across 4.1 innings. Rotowire.com Today, 1:16 pm
    • Ups flat-ground throwing distance
Rays manager Kevin Cash said Monday that McClanahan (elbow) has increased his throwing distance to 135 feet, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Cash noted that McClanahan is "doing well" in his recovery from his Aug. 21, 2023 Tommy John surgery, the second such procedure of his career. The southpaw remains unlikely to return from the 60-day injured list in 2024. Rotowire.com Today, 1:15 pm
    • Third rehab outing coming
Faedo (hip) is scheduled to pitch for Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Advice: After tossing a scoreless inning in his first minor-league appearance, Faedo surrendered four hits, two walks and a run across 1.1 innings Saturday. He's been on the IL since June 5 but is expected to rejoin the active roster soon. In fact, Tuesday's outing could be his last at Toledo. Rotowire.com Today, 1:06 pm

    • To resume throwing Friday
Bloss (shoulder) will play light catch Friday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Bloss was placed on the 15-day injured list Saturday with right shoulder inflammation following his major-league debut, but he has a shot to return shortly after those 15 days are up. Whether he returns in the majors or minors could depend on who makes it back first out of him and Justin Verlander (neck). Rotowire.com Today, 1:02 pm

    • Moved to 60-day IL
The Marlins transferred Sanchez (shoulder) to the 60-day injured list Tuesday.

Advice: The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Austin Kitchens, who was claimed off waivers. Sanchez had been hoping to be cleared to throw a bullpen session soon, but this move would seem to suggest that won't happen. The righty has been out since early June with right shoulder inflammation and now won't be eligible to return until Rotowire.com Today, 12:48 pm
