• Not starting versus LHP
Brooks isn't in the Giants' lineup for Friday's game against the Angels, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Brooks will take a seat Friday as lefty Tyler Anderson toes the slab for the Angels. Wilmer Flores will get the nod at first base while batting fifth. Rotowire.com Friday, 3:16 pm
  • Pedro Pagés hits first major league home run
Pedro Pagés hit his first big-league homer Friday against the Cubs.

Advice: In the top of the eighth, Pagés hit a ball to left at 102.5 mph with a 32-degree launch angle and got it just into the basket over Ian Happ’s outstretched glove. 10 minutes later, Patrick Wisdom hit a ball to the same area at 111.0 mph with a 33-degree launch angle and somehow came up just short. Pagés’ homer came in his 39th career plate appearance. He’s batting .125 while splitting time with Iván Herrera behind the plate for the Cardinals. Rotoworld Friday, 2:05 pm

  • Giants activate SS Nick Ahmed from 10-day IL
Giants activated SS Nick Ahmed from the 10-day injured list.

Advice: Ahmed had been on the injured list with a wrist injury since May 10th. He’s hitting .236 with no home runs in 110 at-bats with the Giants this year. Ahmed will share playing time with Brett Wisely at shortstop going forward. Rotoworld Friday, 10:51 am

  • Returns from injured list
The Giants reinstated Ahmed (wrist) from the 10-day injured list Friday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Areareports.

Advice: Ahmed has been sidelined just over a month by a sprained left wrist but is ready to rejoin the Giants after three rehab appearances in the minors. He was operating as San Francisco's primary shortstop prior to the injury, largely due to his reliable glove, and he has a .236/.274/.291 slash line through 36 games this season. • Takes third loss
Grove (4-3) was charged with the loss against the Rangers on Thursday, allowing two runs on three hits over one inning.

Advice: Grove was deployed as an opener but wound up having little margin for error as the Dodgers' offense managed to generate only one run on the night, leaving the right-hander with his first loss since May 10. He has allowed at least one run and multiple hits in two straight appearances. He's also failed to record a strikeout in three straight outings. Rotowire.com Friday, 7:12 am

  • Forgettable night in return
Moore went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts in his return from paternity leave during an extra-inning loss against the White Sox on Thursday.

Advice: Moore had sat out the previous two games while on leave, and he went down on strikes three times against masterful White Sox starter Garrett Crochet before also logging one final punchout when facing reliever Michael Kopech. Since hitting safely in back-to-back games May 25-26, Moore has been mired in a nightmarish slump, going 4-for-42 with a single extra-base hit (a double) and a 38.8 percent strikeout across his last 13 contests. • Michael Grove starting bullpen game on Thursday
Michael Grove will start on Thursday against the Rangers.

Advice: Grove draws the starting assignment to kick-off a bullpen game for Los Angeles with Yoshinobu Yamamoto being pushed back to take the ball on Saturday against the Royals after throwing a season-high 108 pitches his last time out. Rotoworld Thursday, 3:00 pm

  • Jacob Young goes 0-for-3 in loss to Tigers
Jacob Young finished 0-for-3 against the Tigers on Thursday and is 2-for-23 in his last seven games.

Advice: Young did have two hard-hit balls today, which is notable considering that his 25% hard-hit rate is among the lowest in the majors. Power isn’t at all Young’s game, but it’s disturbing that his OBP has collapsed. He’s hit .217 and walked just three times in 99 plate appearances since May 10. Rotoworld Thursday, 1:28 pm

  • Dylan Moore back from paternity list
Mariners reinstated INF/OF Dylan Moore from the paternity list.

Advice: Moore was gone for three days. He’ll resume playing pretty regularly between second, third and left, giving him some value in deeper mixed leagues. Rotoworld Thursday, 11:12 am
