• Isiah Kiner-Falefa goes 3-for-4, homers in loss
Isiah Kiner-Falefa went 3-for-4 with a solo homer and drove in both Blue Jays runs Friday in the loss to the Twins.

Advice: Statcast has been saying all year that Kiner-Falefa has been cheated with his results, but things have picked up lately, as he’s raised his average from .247 to .279 in his last four games. His exit velocity numbers are actually down from his norms, but he hasn’t struck out much and he’s hit a ton of balls that have had the potential to go for singles. There still isn’t very much fantasy upside here, particularly since he’s not doing much running. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:58 pm

  • Matt Vierling plates two runs in loss to Astros
Matt Vierling doubled and drove in a pair of runs on Friday night, but it wasn’t enough to lead the Tigers and their pathetic offense over the Astros.

Advice: Vierling opened the scoring in the contest with his two-run double off of Framber Valdez in the third inning. That would be the extent of the Tigers’ offense in the contest., spoiling yet another terrific pitching performance from their starting rotation. Vierling finished the evening 1-for-4 and is now hitting .280/.304/.439 with three homers and 15 RBI. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:08 pm

  • Andy Ibáñez swipes base in loss to Astros
Andy Ibáñez went 2-for-5 with a pair of singles and a stolen base on Friday evening as the Tigers fell to the visiting Astros.

Advice: The known lefty-masher collected both of his hits off of Astros’ southpaw Framber Valdez. He singled in the third inning and raced around to score on Matt Vierling’s two-run double. He also added a single in the fifth inning and swiped second base to get himself into scoring position, but the Tigers were unable to cash him in. The 31-year-old infielder has impressed in his limited action this season, slashing a robust .349/.348/.512 with two homers, seven RBI and a swipe in 45 plate appearances. • Giants recall Casey Schmitt from Triple-A Friday
Giants recalled INF Casey Schmitt from Triple-A Sacramento.

Advice: The 25-year-old infielder flopped in his first taste of big league action in 2023, but perhaps things will be different this time around. Schmitt was hitting .276/.320/.448 with five homers, 31 RBI and five stolen bases through his first 33 games at Triple-A Sacramento. Expect him to see the bulk of the action at shortstop while Nick Ahmed (wrist) is shelved. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:47 pm

  • Recalled from Sacramento
The Giants recalled Schmitt from Triple-A Sacramento on Friday.

Advice: With Nick Ahmed (wrist) headed for the injured list, Schmitt will come up from the minors to serve as replacement infield depth. The 25-year-old has spent all of 2024 with Sacramento, slashing .269/.313/.440 with 31 RBI across 147 plate appearances, and he will likely be used primarily off the bench while with the big-league club. • Breather Friday
Polanco is not in the starting lineup for Friday's contest with the Athletics, Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710 AM reports.

Advice: Polanco will get a breather after going 2-for-18 with one run scored and seven strikeouts over Seattle's four-game series in Minnesota. Josh Rojas will slide over to second base while Luis Urias will enter the lineup at third base and bat ninth against Oakland. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:49 pm

  • Not in Friday's lineup
Senzel is not in the lineup for Friday's game in Boston.

Advice: Senzel closed out April with a power surge, but the strikeouts have piled up on him in May, as he's whiffed at a 42.4 percent rate in seven contests. He'll get a day off to regroup. Jesse Winker will be the Nationals' designated hitter Friday, while Eddie Rosario will hold down left field. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:55 pm

  • Continuing to ramp up
LeMahieu (foot) took batting practice on the Yankee Stadium field Wednesday and will travel with the club on its upcoming road trip to Tampa, per MLB.com.

Advice: In addition to swinging the bat, LeMahieu has also been fielding ground balls as he works his way back from the non-displaced right foot fracture he suffered March 16. By traveling with New York on its next road trip, he'll be able to take live at-bats and do infield work at the team's training complex, which happens to be in Tampa. Manager Aaron Boone said Wednesday that the club intends to ramp up LeMahieu's "baseball activities all week" and indicated that the veteran infielder could potentially start a minor-league rehab assignment soon thereafter.
