• Kevin Herget picks up second career save
Kevin Herget recorded his second career save by allowing two runs over the final three innings Friday in the Brewers’ rout of the Cardinals.

Advice: Herget also had a three-inning save for the Reds last year. The 33-year-old was making his second appearance for the Brewers after being called up Monday. He’s made a total of 19 relief appearances in the majors since debuting with the Rays in 2021. Rotoworld Today, 9:38 pm

  • Lance Lynn surrenders five runs to Brewers
Lance Lynn gave up five runs — four earned — in 4 2/3 innings Friday in a loss to the Brewers.

Advice: It’s rather remarkable than Lynn has a 3.79 ERA with significantly worse-than-usual strikeout and walk numbers, but it’s a product of him having given up only five homers, compared to 12 barrels. Last year, he allowed 44 homers and 56 barrels. In 2022, when he missed one-third of the season, he allowed 19 homers and 24 barrels. Things figure to pick up in the home run department as the season goes along, which doesn’t bode well at all for Lynn remaining an effective pitcher. Rotoworld Today, 9:38 pm

  • Jake Bauers goes 2-for-3, triples in rout
Jake Bauers followed up his homer Thursday by going 2-for-3 with a triple, two RBI, a walk and a steal against the Cardinals on Friday.

Advice: There was a legitimate argument for DFAing Bauers and keeping Tyler Black after Christian Yelich came off the IL, but it was a weaker one if Yelich was going to DH frequently. Bauers thinks the Brewers made the right call, and he’s raised his OPS from .639 to .732 the last two days. He’ll play against most righties for now, though that’s not certain to last. • Dylan Moore homers, drives in five in rout of A’s
Dylan Moore homered and drove in five runs in an 8-1 rout for the Mariners on Friday against the Athletics.

Advice: Moore shellacked a three-run homer against Paul Blackburn in the third to extend Seattle’s lead to 5-0. The versatile 31-year-old added run-scoring singles in the fifth and seventh inning, and the five RBI are a career-high. Moore will likely lose the starting shortstop gig when J.P. Crawford comes off the injured list in the coming days, but he should see playing time in a Seattle lineup that has mostly struggled in 2024. Rotoworld Today, 9:28 pm

  • Blanks Tampa in fourth win
Schmidt (4-1) earned the win Friday over the Rays, allowing five hits and two walks over 6.2 scoreless innings. He struck out six.

Advice: It's the first quality start of the season for Schmidt (he hadn't pitched more than 5.2 innings yet this year) though he's now won three of his last four outings. The 28-year-old Schmidt lowered his ERA to 2.95 with a 1.27 WHIP and 47:15 K:BB across eight starts (42.2 innings) this season. He's currently slated for a road matchup with the Twins in his next turn in the rotation. Rotowire.com Today, 9:26 pm
  • Drives home game-winning runs
Blackmon went 1-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a run scored in Friday's victory over Texas.

Advice: Blackmon led the Rockies to victory by driving home two runs via a double in the eighth inning. The 37-year old has collected two RBI in three straight games. Blackmon continues to receive at-bats in a strong-side platoon role while hitting .241/.303/.375 over 122 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Today, 9:25 pm

  • Collects second save
Beeks picked up the save Friday against Texas. He pitched a clean inning without a strikeout.

Advice: Beeks only required nine total pitches to retire the bottom of the Rangers order for his second save. Justin Lawrence, the typical Rockies closer, was used in a high-leverage seventh inning against the top of the order, opening the save opportunity for Beeks. However, the left-handed Beeks may be the second choice for saves in Colorado as he's been dependable, tossing a 2.45 ERA with 14:8 K:BB over 18.1 innings. Rotowire.com Today, 9:24 pm

  • Effective in no-decision
Gomber did not factor into the decision Friday against the Rangers, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits and two walks over 6.2 innings. He struck out five.

Advice: Gomber turned in his second straight quality start Friday night, managing to lower his season ERA to 3.43 in the process. The Rockies lefty has been surprisingly productive at Coors Field this season, pitching to the tune of a 3.14 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 20:10 K:BB over 28.2 innings. Gomber is scheduled to face the Padres on the road in his next start. Rotowire.com Today, 9:23 pm

  • John Schreiber locks down save against Angels
John Schreiber worked a scoreless ninth to pick up a save Friday against the Angels.

Advice: Schreiber has his first save of the season, first as a member of the Royals and just the ninth of his MLB career. The right-hander has been outstanding in 2024, however, with an ERA now of 0.98 as evidence. There absolutely could be more save chances for Schreiber as the season progresses, but it’s far from a guarantee. Rotoworld Today, 9:18 pm
