• Loses again
Heaney (2-9) took the loss Tuesday against Milwaukee, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out four.

Advice: Heaney fell to his ninth loss of 2024, a total that only trails Dakota Hudson. However, seven of those losses have come despite Heaney allowing three or fewer earned runs, a result of inconsistent defense and a Rangers offensive attack that's underwhelmed compared to expectations. Still, Heaney has been a reliable option since the start of May, owning a 3.26 ERA and a 49:11 K:BB in 49.2 innings. The lefty is tentatively scheduled to start Sunday at Baltimore. • Heaney allows two earned runs in loss to Brewers
Andrew Heaney allowed two earned runs over five innings while striking out four in Tuesday’s loss to the Brewers.

Advice: Heaney scattered two runs across five frames, allowing an RBI single to Jackson Chourio in the third inning and a solo homer to Joey Ortiz in the fifth. The veteran lefty did a nice job of limiting runs but received only one run of support from his offense, as he remains stuck on just two wins for the year. Sitting on a 2-8 record with a 4.17 ERA, Heaney could have a tough time earning that third win on Sunday when he’s set to take on the Orioles in Baltimore. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:36 pm

  • Henry Davis (concussion) starting rehab assignment
Henry Davis (concussion) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Wednesday with Double-A Altoona.

Advice: Davis landed on the concussion injured list back on June 15 and is apparently feeling well enough to get back into game action. The 24-year-old former top prospect will probably only need a handful of rehab contests to get back up to speed before returning to Pittsburgh. Rotoworld Tuesday, 4:46 pm

  • Beginning assignment Wednesday
Davis (concussion) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Altoona on Wednesday, Noah Hiles of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Advice: Davis has been on the 7-day concussion IL since June 15, and Wednesday will be the first time he's played in any sort of game since then. The Pirates haven't indicated how long the 24-year-old's assignment might last, though it's possible he remains in the minors upon being activated after slashing just .153/.267/.235 across 101 major-league plate appearances this season. • Out of lineup Tuesday
Kelly isn't part of the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Phillies.

Advice: Kelly will give way to Jake Rogers behind the dish for the fifth time in eight games. Kelly is batting 10-for-33 (.303) with two home runs in June. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 11:56 am

  • No-decision versus Padres
Corbin allowed three runs on five hits and struck out five without walking a batter over seven innings to take a no-decision versus the Padres on Monday.

Advice: Corbin threw 97 pitches (59 strikes) in his longest outing of the season. This was his fourth quality start, though he hasn't earned a win in any of those appearances and has gone winless over eight consecutive starts. For the season, Corbin has a 5.46 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 60:32 K:BB through 89 innings across 16 starts. The southpaw would be on regular rest to start this weekend versus the Rays, but with Josiah Gray (elbow) potentially returning after a rehab appearance Tuesday, it's unclear if Corbin will remain in the Nationals' rotation moving forward. • Patrick Corbin goes seven in no-decision
Patrick Corbin made it through seven innings allowing three runs Monday against the Padres.

Advice: It’s the first time Corbin has completed seven innings since last July 9. He’s actually put together three nice outings in a row now, though the schedule has certainly helped some there (he faced the Tigers and D-backs in his previous two starts). His current 5.46 ERA is his lowest mark after any outing this year. Rotoworld Monday, 10:20 pm
  • Homers in Monday's win
Ward went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk and an additional run scored in Monday's 5-1 win over the Athletics.

Advice: Ward gave the Angels all the offense they needed with his first-inning blast. This was his 13th homer of the season, but it's just his second over the last 24 contests. The outfielder may be coming back around at the plate, as he's hit safely in four straight games, but he's at a .241/.326/.431 slash line with 40 RBI, 37 runs scored and three stolen bases through 75 contests overall. • Leads offense in loss
Kelly went 2-for-3 with an RBI in Monday's 8-1 loss to the Phillies.

Advice: Detroit sputtered on the mound and at the plate, but Kelly still had a solid performance. The backstop was making his first appearance in three days, pushing Jake Rogers to the bench in the process. Kelly and Rogers are splitting time behind the plate fairly evenly so far this season, though Kelly has been the better offensive option overall with a .711 OPS, compared to just .603 for Rogers. The latter has the slight edge in home runs, however, five to four. Rotowire.com Monday, 8:09 pm
