• Takes sixth loss
Heaney (0-6) took the loss Thursday against the Phillies, allowing four runs (three earned) on nine hits and two walks over 3.1 innings. He struck out one.

Advice: Heaney held the Phillies scoreless until J.T. Realmuto's leadoff homer in the third inning before they'd tack on three more runs in the fourth. It was ultimately another tough outing for the left-hander, who's failed to make it out of the fourth inning in consecutive starts. Heaney's ERA sits at 4.69 with a 1.38 WHIP and 45:13 K:BB across 10 starts (48 innings) this season. He'll be looking for his first win in his next outing, currently scheduled for next week against Arizona. Rotowire.com 8 minutes ago

  • Yariel Rodríguez to pitch on Sunday at Triple-A
Yariel Rodríguez (back) will make a minor league rehab appearance on Sunday for Triple-A Buffalo.

Advice: Blue Jays manager John Schneider added that Rodríguez will aim for roughly 30-35 pitches in his second rehab outing. The 27-year-old figures to return as a multi-inning reliever after hitting the injured list in late April due to back inflammation. Rotoworld 8 minutes ago
  • Jarred Kelenic homers, Braves shut out Cubs
Jarred Kelenic slugged a go-ahead solo homer on Thursday, powering the Braves to a 3-0 victory over the Cubs.

Advice: Kelenic connected for a tie-breaking fifth-inning solo shot to right-center field off Cubs reliever Hayden Wesneski. It was just third round-tripper of the season and wound up being one of just 10 hits combined in a rare low-scoring afternoon showdown at Wrigley Field. Rotoworld 23 minutes ago

  • Kyle Hendricks allows two runs in relief outing
Kyle Hendricks allowed two runs over two innings on Thursday in a relief appearance against the Braves.

Advice: Hendricks entered the contest in the eighth inning for his first relief appearance since 2016 and just his third career relief appearance of his 11-year career. He wound up surrendering a pair of runs in the eighth before coming back out to work a scoreless ninth. Cubs manager Craig Counsell indicated earlier this week that Hendricks would likely move back into the starting rotation at some point, but that seems a bit farfetched given his persistent struggles this season. • AJ Smith-Shawver sharp in season debut vs. Cubs
AJ Smith-Shawver fired 4 1/3 scoreless innings on Thursday in a no-decision against the Cubs.

Advice: Smith-Shawver looked sharp on Thursday afternoon against the Cubs, carrying a shutout into the fifth inning before Braves manager Brian Snitker elected to turn things over to the bullpen rather than let him face the top of Chicago’s lineup for a third time. He surrendered just three hits, struck out four and issued only a pair of walks. He generated nine swinging strikes and finished with a 24 percent CSW. The 21-year-old righty rocketed to the big leagues last year, but hasn’t had a ton of success at the highest level. There’s a possibility he gets an extended look over the rest of the year, but that remains to be seen. He’s currently in line to take the ball next Wednesday against the Nationals. • Ben Brown tosses four scoreless frames vs. Braves
Ben Brown tossed four shutout innings on Thursday in a no-decision against the Braves.

Advice: Brown took the ball on Thursday afternoon at Wrigley Field for a spot start in place of veteran Kyle Hendricks and finished with six strikeouts over four scoreless frames. The 24-year-old righty allowed just one hit and a pair of walks as he induced 10 swinging strikes, with nine of them coming on his curveball, and finished with a pedestrian 27 percent CSW. He’s pitched extremely well this season with a 3.20 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 45/15 K/BB ratio across 39 1/3 innings (12 appearances, five starts). He’ll presumably take the ball on Tuesday against the division-rival Brewers and is worthy of a speculative roster spot in deeper mixed leagues. Rotoworld 37 minutes ago

  • Outrighted to Double-A
White cleared waivers Thursday and was sent outright to Double-A Somerset.

Advice: The Yankees claimed White off waivers from Tampa Bay on May 9, and he remained on the 40-man for just 11 days before being DFA'd on Monday. He has appeared in two games for Somerset since joining the Yankees organization, allowing two earned runs across two-thirds of an inning. Rotowire.com Today, 1:54 pm

  • Launches grand slam Thursday
Bart went 2-for-4 with a double and a grand slam in Thursday's 7-6 loss to the Giants.

Advice: Bart made quite an impression on his former team, launching a 434-foot grand slam off Mason Black in the fourth inning to put the Pirates ahead 5-1. The 27-year-old Bart's been hot of late, going 9-for-23 (.391) with three extra-base hits in his last seven games on the heels of an 0-for-14 stretch. Overall, he's slashing .267/.362/.517 with four homers, 12 RBI and seven runs scored across 21 games. With Yasmani Grandal nursing a groin injury, Bart could be in line for a regular starting role in the short term. Rotowire.com Today, 1:53 pm

  • Designated for assignment
Peralta was designated for assignment by the Mariners on Thursday, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Seattle has scooped up Eduardo Salazar off waivers from the Dodgers and Peralta is the 40-man roster casualty. Peralta, 26, has spent all of this season at Triple-A Tacoma, putting up a 9.24 ERA and 12:8 K:BB over 12.2 frames. Rotowire.com Today, 1:51 pm
