• Ks six in quality start
Woods Richardson did not factor into the decision Thursday, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks in six innings against the Rays. He struck out six.

Advice: Woods Richardson allowed single runs in the second and third, keeping the Rays at bay as he completed six innings for his fourth quality start of the season. It was also the ninth time in 12 starts that Woods Richardson left with a no-decision. It was the third time in four outings that Woods Richardson struck out six batters, including a couple of big strikeouts to end the fourth and fifth innings, each coming with runners in scoring position to keep the game tied. Woods Richardson has been solid throughout his first full season in the majors, tallying a 3.26 ERA and 1.14 WHIP through 12 starts with 52 strikeouts over 60.2 innings. His next start is scheduled to take place next week when the Twins travel to Arizona to take on the Diamondbacks. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:54 pm
  • Keaton Winn allows five runs in no-decision
Keaton Winn was blasted for five runs over 2 2/3 innings on Thursday in a loss to the Cardinals.

Advice: Winn took the ball for Thursday’s contest at historic Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Alabama and was unable to escape the third inning. He gave up five hits, including a two-run homer to Brendan Donovan in the opening frame. He’ll aim for better results his next time out on Wednesday against the Cubs. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:53 pm
  • Allows two runs in no-decision
Littell did not factor into the decision Thursday, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks over five innings against the Twins. He struck out five.

Advice: Thursday represented a return to form for Littell, who held the Twins to single runs in each of the second and third innings prior to leaving after five innings having tossed 95 pitches. Littell had posted a 7.71 ERA and 2.07 WHIP with four homers allowed across three starts and 14 innings during the month of June, including allowing a season-worst six earned runs in just two innings during his previous start. Although he was touched up for a homer for the seventh-consecutive outing, it was also the first time in five starts he didn't allow at least three earned runs. He'll continue to work on righting the ship during his next start, scheduled to come at home next week when the Mariners make their way to the Trop. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:28 pm

  • Lands on injured list
Soriano was placed on the 15-day injured list with an abdomen infection Thursday.

Advice: Soriano was scratched from his start Monday and was expected to miss another turn through the rotation. It was originally anticipated that he would avoid the injured list, so it's unclear how long he may be sidelined. The move was retroactive to Monday, so Soriano will be eligible to return in early July. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:54 pm

  • Angels put José Soriano (infection) on 15-day IL
Angels placed RHP José Soriano on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to June 17, with an abdominal infection.

Advice: So much for Angels manager Ron Washington’s proclamation that Soriano wouldn’t need a trip to the injured list. The 25-year-old righty was scratched from a scheduled start earlier this week due to abdominal pain and will require a couple weeks off to deal with an abdominal infection. There should be some clarity on his status in the coming days. It’s an unfortunate development for fantasy managers as he was set to face the Athletics early next week. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:50 pm

  • Earns eighth win
Allen (8-3) earned the win Thursday against the Mariners, allowing three runs on four hits and four walks across six innings. He struck out two.

Advice: Allen did not start off well, allowing a leadoff single to JP Crawford followed by a homer to Dylan Moore but allowed just one more run the rest of the way to earn his eighth win and complete his fifth quality start of the season. Allen, who also hit a batter on the day, continues to struggle with missing bats, having struck out just eight batters over the last three starts spanning 17 innings after having struck out 51 across 58.2 innings during his first 12 outings. Despite the dearth of strikeouts during this most recent stretch, Allen's ERA stands at 3.17 over the last three games as opposed to 5.83 during the 12 games prior. Things will not get easier for his next start as he's currently scheduled to take on the Orioles in Baltimore. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:46 pm

  • Elects for surgery
Gasser will have surgery Monday to repair UCL damage in his left elbow, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Advice: It's unclear whether Gasser is undergoing Tommy John surgery or the internal brace procedure, but he will be out for at least the next 12 months. It's tough timing for the promising young pitcher, as he had pitched well across his first five big-league starts, maintaining a 2.57 ERA and 1.04 WHIP in 28 innings. • Robert Gasser to undergo elbow surgery next week
Robert Gasser will undergo season-ending left elbow surgery on Monday.

Advice: The expectation all along was that Gasser was probably finished for the year, but the fact that he’s elected to undergo surgery — either a full Tommy John or less invasive internal brace procedure (A.K.A. the Seth Maness procedure) — following multiple medical opinions means he’ll miss at least the first half of the 2025 campaign as well. It’s a significant loss for Milwaukee’s starting pitching depth as he was just starting to establish himself at the highest level. There should be an exact timetable following next week’s procedure. • Spence allows two runs in no-decision Thursday
Mitch Spence allowed two runs in six innings and got a no-decision against the Royals on Thursday.

Advice: Spence gave up six hits, walked one and struck out seven. Both of the runs he allowed came on solo home runs by Freddy Fermin. Spence has a 3.86 ERA and SO:BB of 50:15 in seven starts this year. The 26-year-old right-hander is set to face the Angels on the road.
