    • Grayson Rodriguez tagged for seven runs by Astros
Grayson Rodriguez surrendered seven runs in five innings Friday in a loss to the Astros.

Advice: Every time it looks like Rodriguez is ready to turn the corner and become an elite fantasy starter, something like this happens. Still, Rodriguez appears to be on the right path. Just three times this season has he allowed more than two earned runs, and while he’s been lit up for 18 runs in those three starts, he’s actually posted a 25/4 K/BB ratio in those outings. • Earns third straight win
Montgomery (6-4) earned the win against the Phillies on Friday, allowing two runs on five hits and one walk with five strikeouts over six innings.

Advice: Montgomery tossed two scoreless innings before surrendering a two-run home run to Trea Turner in the third. He responded with three straight scoreless innings and left the game with a 4-2 lead after throwing 83 pitches. Montgomery earned his third consecutive win while registering his first quality start in June, as he has not reached 90 pitches in an outing since May 19. On the season, Montgomery owns a 5.71 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 44:22 K:BB over 63 innings and tentatively lines up to face the Twins next week. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:32 pm
    • Josh Lowe smacks two homers
Josh Lowe went 3-for-5 with two home runs and four RBI in a 10-3 win for the Rays over the Pirates.

Advice: Lowe took righty Luis Ortiz deep twice and vaulted the Rays to a victory in Pittsburgh. Injuries have stalled what was hoped to be a big breakout season for the young left-hander as he only just reached 100 plate appearances after this game. There’s plenty of time for his ugly slash line to improve and his 16.4% Barrel Rate is by far the best mark he’s ever shown. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:32 pm

    • Idle Friday
Kepler (neck) isn't part of the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Athletics.

Advice: Kepler was removed from Thursday's game with neck spasms and isn't expected to hit the injured list, but he'll still be held out of Friday's contest. Instead, Manuel Margo will bat seventh and play right field for Friday's series opener. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:53 pm

    • Max Kepler (neck) remains out of lineup on Friday
Max Kepler (neck) remains out of the Twins’ starting lineup for Friday night’s tilt against the Athletics in Oakland.

Advice: Kepler was pulled from Thursday’s contest due to neck spasms. He isn’t expected to require a trip to the injured list, but with southpaws on tap for Saturday and Sunday, it’s unlikely that we see Kepler return to the Twins’ lineup until early next week. Manuel Margot will start in right field on Friday night and will bat seventh against Joey Estes and the A’s. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:29 pm

    • Ketel Marte absent from Diamondbacks lineup Friday
Ketel Marte is absent from the Diamondbacks’ starting lineup for Friday night’s series opener against the Phillies in Philadelphia.

Advice: It appears to be nothing more than a routine day of rest for the hard-hitting second baseman. Blaze Alexander will draw a rare start at second base in his place and will bat eighth for the Diamondbacks against Taijuan Walker and the Phillies on Friday evening in Philadelphia. • Not in Friday's lineup
Marte is absent from the lineup for Friday's game in Philadelphia.

Advice: Marte served as the Diamondbacks' designated hitter Thursday and is now out of their lineup altogether, although there's no indication at this point that this is anything other than a routine day off. Blaze Alexander is handling second base Friday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:22 am
    • Expects to avoid injured list
Kepler said after being removed from Thursday's game against the Rays because of neck spasms that he expects to avoid the injured list, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports.

Advice: Kepler revealed that he actually felt his neck spasming in the on-deck circle before his first plate appearance and made a decision not to swing the bat, which is why he attempted to bunt twice. He was pulled from the game following a headfirst slide into first base while trying to beat out a bunt. While it's unclear whether Kepler will be ready to play Friday in Oakland, he can be considered day-to-day. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:10 am

    • Max Kepler leaves game Thursday with neck spasms
Max Kepler was removed from Thursday’s game against the Rays due to neck spasms.

Advice: Kepler suffered the injury on an ill-advised head-first slide into first base with two outs in the opening frame. The 31-year-old will likely receive some additional testing and treatment in the coming days. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. Rotoworld Thursday, 1:54 pm
